5 NYC Tourist Hot Spots Worth a Visit*

    April 24, 2017 /

You might remember that a couple of weeks ago I shared My 5 Must Dos in New York City? And I thought today I would expand on that since I’m still really missing the Big Apple. Not all the places I listed were particularly tourist for people having that “one off” trip. So today I’m elaborating on that sharing my 5 favourite tourist hot spots of the many that are on Manhattan and the immediate surrounding area. Despite having had three trips I still haven’t visited them all, but in my opinion these 5 are worth a visit. The great thing about visiting NYC is that there are passes available…

Where Amy Ate – Ask Italian, Grey’s Quarter Newcastle

    April 14, 2017 /

During out trip to Newcastle this week to attend the Quentin Blake exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery, my mum kindly gifted us some Tesco Clubcard vouchers to have lunch. I chose Ask Italian as during our last school holiday excursion for the Bones exhibit at the Great North Museum we’d walked through the newly refurbished Grey’s Quarter and the restaurant front caught my eye. I’ve worked with Ask Italian before as a blogger when we hosted the Lincs Blog Meet at their restaurant in Lincoln, they were wonderful and the food was delicious. I guess because I had such a good experience I expected the same again and that…

Days Out in England – Quentin Blake: Inside Stories at Laing Art Gallery

    April 13, 2017 /

Despite being ill on Tuesday, Little Miss and I had a day away to Newcastle, just the two of us. We’d been offered complimentary tickets to the Quentin Blake: Inside Stories at the Laing Art Gallery, and being a huge Blake fan, I just had to go. So we hopped on an early train (train tickets having been bought using my Nectar points) and headed down to the city for a few hours. After a morning of shopping and a terrible lunch, I was feeling all but defeated but thankfully the exhibit was lovely and well worth the trip for. I know what you’re thinking, an art gallery with a…

5 Ways to Cope with Insomnia*

    April 10, 2017 /

It’s not a secret on my blog that I struggle with insomnia. The first time I ever remember having it I was 13 and it was the summer before I started high school. I was so anxious that I couldn’t sleep for weeks on end. My parents took me to the doctors and I was giving some herbal drops. I used to have to sleep on the sofa so I wouldn’t wake my sister as we shared a room. I remember a low of falling asleep in a cafe. A lot of people tell me at 13 I couldn’t possibly have insomnia but believe me, it went on for weeks,…

Five Hacks to Living a Champagne Life on a Lemonade Budget*

    April 9, 2017 /

Lets face it, the temptation to live outside your means is always there. We all want a better life but on the rubbish wages we receive and the general cost of living it’s hard to be happy with a modest life. As a mother I always want the best for my child but being a single mother who is self employed sometimes that’s really hard.. but fear not, I’ve come up with six hacks to get more out of life than what you can realistically afford without putting yourself into debt. Some times these take a little work but in all honesty, they’re worth it. Buy Second Hand and Upcycle…
