5 Reasons to Try Craft Beer with Melving Brewing*

I think one of the things people will take away from this strange time is to really embrace new life and try new things.

So here is a suggestion… how about making the switch from mass marketed larger from a mainstream brewery to craft beers.

As we all know, the pandemic is going to hit small independent businesses a lot harder than it will big companies. We should all be trying to support small stores in their needy time so once it’s over than can once again flourish. Craft beers are often created by small local brewers such as Melving Brewing who work hard to create unique flavours that set them apart. If you fancy yourself a beer connoisseur, you’re probably already drinking craft beers, but if not, here are 5 more reasons you should give it a try;

You’re Supporting the Local Economy

As I mentioned above, during this tough time we should all be doing our bit to support the economy. By drinking locally brewed craft beers you’ll be helping farmers in your area create more jobs. And if your local brewery starts to expand that will also create more jobs. Buying craft beers brewed in your area is putting money back into your community.

They Taste Better

It’s not surprising that a beer brewed by a small company using environmentally techniques and locally sourced ingredients tastes better than mass produced batches that are shipped aroundt he country. To set themselves apart craft breweries pride themselves on making above par beer that make drinking an experience to be enjoyed.

They’re Better For You

A lot of main stream largers are bad for you. I know this as my dad lost almost 6 stone and one of the things he cut out was larger. Craft beers have a lot more health benefits than you might think. These include antioxidants, proteins and often vitamin D. Of course you still need to drink in moderation as you do with all alcohol.

Much More Variety

Craft beers are paving the way for variety and the mass producing companies are trying (and failing) to follow suit. Each brewery will use different ingredients from different regions and use different techniques to come up with their own personal blend. This also means you often have seasonal tastes and beers thrown into the mix. My personal favourite is pumpkin craft beer that appears in the Autumn.

More Alcohol Content

Okay, so this can be a pro or a con. But the way I see it, as craft beers tend to have more depth to them and a stronger alcohol content, it means you’ll not need to drink as much to feel satisfied. Mass produced beer often has a “beer water” taste to it and I guarentee you’ll not get that with craft beer.

These are just a few of the reasons why you should be giving craft beer a try as soon as we’re allowed out to socialise again. It’s also better for the environment, and a great conversation starter as everyone has their favourites. I’m not even a beer drinker but I’m a sucker for a grapefruit or peach craft beer, so refreshing on a warm summer night.
