Keeping Kids Entertained in the School Holidays*
If you live in England this week sees you half way through the summer holidays. Sad huh? Half the parents out there will be dreading the day they ship their precious little ones back to school (me), the other half can’t wait to watch their kids skip in and rush home to put the flags out (my sister). Unfortunately the weather just hasn’t been great this summer. Where I live it’s rained most days (yeah, I’m the idiot who left the washing out over night and it poured) and even if we do get some sun it’s just waiting to sneak attack you with more rain while you’re out having…

Why I Start Christmas Shopping in July*
Yes, you read that right. I start Christmas shopping in July. Well they don’t have a whole “Christmas in July” thing for nothing! Jokes aside, yes weeks ago I started Christmas shopping. I received an Amazon voucher and aside from my sister’s belated birthday present I used it to buy things to put away for LM’s Christmas and I have absolutely no regrets. Christmas is expensive! And this year in November I want to book our flights to Florida and make a Christmas trip out to Disneyland Paris as a last hara with our Annual Passes before they expire. I used to start in September but these days with being…

My 5 Favourite Chick Lit Authors
I always vow I’m going to blog more about books and reading but I never do. I’m always afraid I’ll give away spoilers if I review anything which is why I’ve decided to share favourite authors today rather than books. So far this year I’ve read 14 books, the last time I read that many books it must have been 2012 so I’m pretty impressed with myself. I’ve been doing a lot of long train journeys and that means I can power through without distractions. My favourite genre of books these days is either Young Adult Fantasy (can’t be bothered with those teen growing pains ones, being an adult is…

5 Adventures to Go on with Your Kids This Summer*
The school summer break is nearly here! I know there are some parents out there groaning but I’m so excited to have Little Miss off fr 6 weeks! At the weekend I’ll be sitting down with her to do our annual summer bucket list and I can’t wait to hear what ideas she has. But for today I’m going to share 5 generic ideas for the summer if you’re stuck one how to entertain your kids during the long haul. Go on a Picnic We’re all hoping for some wondering sunny weather for 6 weeks and if we do get it, go out for a picnic. Kids love eating…

My 5 Favourite Apps*
The one piece of technology I’m always in fear of losing these days is my iPhone. I’m not onto an iPhone 7, having started at the 4 (prior to that I swore by Sony Eriksson and then a Blackberry). I remember when I phone was just a phone, for calling and texting. Then you could take photos with it and use it to store music, these days however it’s a mini computer. I use it to send and reply to emails, keep up to date with friends and secure work for myself. I’d be completely lost without it. For me what sets my iPhone apart from all other phones is…

Summer 2017 Festival Check List*
In the UK, summer time equals festival time and I’m super excited! Although my days of big festivals are on hold due to having Little Miss, we do try and visit every single festival our town has to offer, from the seaside festival to the food and beer festival, nothing says summer like walking around in the sun munching street food while LM goes on mediocre rides. However if you’re heading out to the big ones this year, Leeds & Reading, Glastonbury Festival or V, packing is essential, no matter what the forecast weather says. If you’re leaving things to the last minute I’ve put together an extensive festival checklist…
