Days Out in England – Quentin Blake: Inside Stories at Laing Art Gallery
Despite being ill on Tuesday, Little Miss and I had a day away to Newcastle, just the two of us. We’d been offered complimentary tickets to the Quentin Blake: Inside Stories at the Laing Art Gallery, and being a huge Blake fan, I just had to go. So we hopped on an early train (train tickets having been bought using my Nectar points) and headed down to the city for a few hours. After a morning of shopping and a terrible lunch, I was feeling all but defeated but thankfully the exhibit was lovely and well worth the trip for. I know what you’re thinking, an art gallery with a…

Our Easter 2017 Plans
Today the Easter holidays start at Little Miss school! I can’t believe it’s been a whole term since LM went back after Christmas and now she only has one term left of her first year at school, that’s scary. But before I think about that, I have her at home for two whole weeks and we have so much planned! I’m sure because we do have so much planned it’s going to fly by but at least I know we’ll have lots of fun, fingers crossed we get some good weather for it. Anyway today, before I head along to LM’s end of term assembly, I thought i’d share some…

Days Out in England – Bones Exhibition at The Great North Museum
Yesterday we continued our trend of having a day away during the school holidays. During Christmas we ventured up to Edinburgh to enjoy the Christmas Market, so this time we headed south and went to Newcastle. Since our #littlediscoveries adventure last year we discovered some great new places including The Great North Museum that Little Miss really enjoyed and when I heard they had a new exhibition on I decided we should go during half term. I asked my mum if she wanted to come with my nephew as he’s really into bones and even wanted to be an archaeologist at one point! So we booked trains and exchanged some…

Things to Do With Kids in the Newcastle
Next week Little Miss is on half term for a week, so as usual the week before I’m trying to plan a few activities for us to do. We’re not going anywhere special as March is shaping up to be a busy month for us so I’m trying to save as much money for that instead, however unless the weather is truly terrible I’d rather we didn’t spend the whole time in the house. We live on the Scottish Border so we can either go north or we can go south when it comes to finding thing to do. North we have up towards Edinburgh and south we have the…

Where Amy Ate – The Botanist, Newcastle
A few weeks back when we went adventuring to Newcastle, we had lunch in The Botanist on our second day. Prior to setting out I had googled “Places to Eat in Newcastle with Kids” and I came across a post by Samantha of North East Family Fun that helped me decide on The Botanist. I’d already heard some great stories about it from my non parent friends but I wasn’t sure it would be child friendly, how wrong was I? The Botanist is situated in Monument Mall and you can find the entrance opposide Waterstones. I 100% recommend you take the lift, Little Miss and I underestimated the amount of…

Our #LittleDiscoveries Adventure to Newcastle, Day Two
Today I’m sharing what we got up to on our second day adventuring in Newcastle. Have you seen yesterday’s post yet? This trip was all about finding some #littlediscoveries in Newcastle with CrossCountry trains before Little Miss starts school next week. We had a fab time including an overnight stay at Sleeperz Hotel. The next morning we woke about 9am. Little Miss watched an hour of My Little Pony while I got dressed and packed. It was great being able to leave our bags at reception so we didn’t have to cart them around Newcastle. The staff were so friendly and we had tickets to ensure we got the right…
