5 Plugins to Customise Your Font on WordPress*

So, you’ve started a blog. What next?

This September this blog will be 8 years old, crazy huh? I started it as something to do while on maternity leave and for the most part I keep it updated. It’s evolved from being about my daily life to a place full of informative articles. These days I use Instagram for daily life and occassionally our livvybirdadventures.com blog.

If you want to monatise your blog, it’s a long road ahead. Once you’re established it can be a little easier, and to become established, you really need to stand out. You can do that in a few ways, from having a clear voice (my direction) or you can make your blog eye catching and engaging. There are a few ways to do this, a good layout, clear pictures, readable but unusual font… you really need to put your own stamp on things if you’re going down an aesthetic route.

Today I’m going to talk about 5 fantastic plugins you can use to change your font on WordPress. It’s honestly so simple as you simply choose a wordpress font plugin in the Plugins section on your blog and it can really make your page stand out.

Fontsy

My personal favourite is Fontsy. When you search for a Plugin direct from WordPress you’re presented with loads of options without really being able to see what is available. With Fontsy you can browse their swish website and see font packs that work well together, giving your website a more pressional look. With the Fontsy plugin you can also upload your own fonts and download your favourites onto your computer to use in emails or in home office packages. I love the range of fonts available. This is actually the plugin I use on my other blog.

Use Any Font | Custom Font Uploader

If you already have a font in mind that you have downloaded from elsewhere to use on your computer, I recommend Use Any Font. This is simply a custom font uploader and it’s so easy to use. It gives you step by step instructions and even shows you where your font file will be on your computer if you’re unsure. If your font isn’t in the correct format it’ll even fix that for you.

OMGF | Host Google Fonts Locally

This is a great one if you care about page optimisation and you don’t want a custom font to slow your load time down which can affect your page performance.  This is so important for Google ranking. The thing that puts me off OMGF is the instructions can be quite wordy and for someone like me who isn’t up to date on the new coding jargon it all goes over my head. I need things simple and straight forward.

Easy Google Fonts

This one is more my speed, anything with “easy” in catches my eye when it comes to maintaining my blog. It’s compatible with any theme but it does recommend that you have the most current update. It allows you to take full control of your blogs typography in real time so you can actively see the changes you’ve made. The only thing is it’s tied to Google fonts so if you are looking for something a bit more “unique” maybe try something else.

Custom Fonts

Finally, a great plugin in if you use any of the following;

  • Astra Theme
  • Beaver Builder Theme
  • Beaver Builder Plugin
  • Elementor Page Builder

Really easy to use but obviously it is tying to particular themes and plugins.

If any of these plugins have caught your eye, simply head over to WordPress plugins’ page and have take a look for yourself!
