A Christmas Night in with Primula
I know Christmas is supposed to be the season for the whole “Party Up” kinda thing (if you’ve ever been to Magic Kingdom and watched Move It Shake It you’ll have just got that reference and I hope you smiled). But as a single mother with no friends in my home town, it means I actually do no partying at all. In fact, I don’t remember the last time I had a night on the town.. how sad? But just because I’m stuck in doesn’t mean I can’t kick back, relax and feel the Christmas vibes. In fact, now that Little Miss is a little person rather than a baby, she can get on the fun too.
Primula recently sent me a fab pack filled with everything I’d need for a Christmassy night in. So tonight I toasted some tortilla chips, made myself a drink and stuck on the Christmas CD. And although it seems a little sad to some people, LM and I had a good night, and even Elsa came down to hang out with us too.
The pack contained some Advocaat and lemonade to make Snowballs.. I haven’t had one in years and there was definitely a bitter sweet moment as I made myself a large one since it was the drink my Grandpa used to serve at his new years day parties when I wasn’t legally allowed to drink. He used to let me and my cousin who is a year older than me have one each and it made us feel so grown up. There was also crisps (although I treated us to bag of tortillas instead today as LM liked the crisps provided with her lunch all week, oops), some flatbreads, a bump Christmas CD, a Pass the Pud game and four (well five, I made a chicken dish with the other earlier on this week) dips. It’s probably enough to have a real party, but it was perfect for just the two of us as well. I have tried the Primula dips a few times and I really love them. Originally I liked the nacho cheese one, but now the sour cream and chive one has taken over. That’s the one I topped chicken with then baked in the oven for a quick tea this week. Tonight I finally got LM to try some, I went with the salsa, because she loves tomato sauces and the garlic one as she also loves garlic.. after a bit of persuading I managed to convince her to try them and they ended up being much more of a success than I’d ever intended! Yay!
I didn’t end up taking as many photos as I’d hoped during our little dance party because I was juggling keeping the cat out of the tree and LM from falling into the tree, but we had so much fun until LM chucked the pud and it nearly hit the tv.. kids eh?!
