    The Hidden Costs of DIY*

    January 16, 2018 /

At the beginning of the new year, people are more likely to under take tasks they’ve been putting off and one of these is often home improvement jobs. January is also the time of year when people usually have less money to play with due to December holidays and Christmas shopping so they look for places to cut costs, and sometimes that’s to take on these home improvement jobs themselves. DIY is all good and well, and on the surface it looks like it could save you a lot, but like with most things, there are always hidden costs that a lot of people forget to take into account. Here…

Finding the Magic of a Moment*

    January 16, 2018 /

Does anyone else find that a holiday goes by way faster than the time you spend leading up to the holiday? I have an app on my phone where I put all holidays or adventure dates into so when LM asks how long to go I can show her the numbers going down. But they go down so slow compared to the 3, 10, 14 or even 28 days a trip lasts (we did 28 days in Florida March 2016 and it still went by so much faster than the 28 days prior to us leaving). Then you come home and feel sad that the trip is over. Those holiday…

Where in the World? – Hawaii*

    January 15, 2018 /

Did you know that January is the time of year that most holidays are booked? I can’t say I’m guilty of that as I prefer Black Friday, but my parents always book their summer get away in January, and the real reason isn’t that all the travel agents seem to be offering all their best deals for packages. The weather is cold and everyone is coming down from their Christmas buzz, it’s time to get something else to look forward to. On this cold and wet Monday I’m currently dreaming of Hawaii. It’s somewhere that lives near the top of my travel wish list and not just because Little Miss…

The Significance of Colour in Early Years Development *

    January 12, 2018 /

As well as numbers and the alphabet, learning colours should be a big part of early years development. At first, baby is born with monochrome vision and is unable to distinguish the difference between colours, it is not until around 8 months when their colour vision is fully developed. By 3-4 years, a child can begin to recognise and name basic colours as frequent exposure can help strengthen this skill. Aside from grabbing a child’s attention, colour can help improve skills and well-being. Infinite Playgrounds, educational play area designers, have provided us with more of an insight. The Development of Colour As scientific research has proven, a baby is not…

    Keeping The Countryside Clean*

    January 12, 2018 /

Spring is in the air, at least it’s trying to be. You may be considering getting out there as the trees bud and nature start to reclaim her territory with swathes of green and the birds begin to return to their homes to chirp loudly, heralding the beginning of warmer things to come. Ok, so this may be some way off yet but sitting on the side of optimism you may wish to make plans for days trips and vacations that take you back to your roots. Back to the outdoors. Aside from there being a million things to do in the countryside, there are things to consider to make…
