3 Ways to Refresh Your House This Spring*
As February inches towards it’s end Spring is finally in sight. I don’t know who else counts March as the first month of Spring, but I certainly do. The days are getting longer, it’s not dark at 5pm and it’s light when you get up for the school run. Unfortunately these brighter days make you notice things you feel are wrong with the house that you couldn’t see in the candle lit Winter months.
If you’re feeling that your house is looking a bit dab post Winter, here are 3 ways to refresh the look of your home without breaking the bank or investing too much time in it;
Change Up Your Walls
No, I’m not talking about the colours of the walls (although if you have time, a fresh coat of paint also does wonders) I’m talking about what’s on your walls. If you have photos in frames, print some more. This is something I really need to get on this week and I plan on using Printiki to get some vintage style prints to change up my frames. If you like more stylised wall art why not pick out some key bits and arrange them in a wall gallery? This looks especially effective above the fireplace or on the staircase!
Grow Some Plants
I’m sure I’m not the only one who associated green with Spring? So why not add some green to your house by doing some windowsill growing? This is something LM loves to do with me every year and it doesn’t need to be expensive. I usually pick up a few small pots of herbs and flowers (sunflowers are great to grow in a window) and plant them with her early on in Spring, so by late spring I have some greenery lining my kitchen window. It definitely adds some fresh colour to the room.
Pick Out New Accents
So you can’t afford to all out decorate your whole house, so why not simply change the accents? A new bedspread for the sitting, a new candle with matching cushions for lounge, some new tea towels for the kitchen. Yes it all adds up but it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Places like Home Bargains and B&M Home Stores are great places to pick up bargains for refreshing your house. I won’t lie, I usually hit up B&M seasonally to pick out some new bits, I have such a weakness for candles!
How do you spruce up your house when the seasons change?
