What We Did for Easter 2017
I can’t believe that’s Easter over with, the next time a term ends LM will have finished her first year at school! The Easter holidays seemed to last forever, probably because we managed to cram so much into two weeks, including LM having the dreaded chicken pox for 7 of those days (technically 9 as she had two days without spots). Now she’s been back a day the holidays feel like they never happened. Crazy huh? Of course I’m already looking forward to May half term as we have two days in London with a friend from Shanghai and we have two days in Disneyland Paris! It’s definitely all that…

Where Amy Ate – Ask Italian, Grey’s Quarter Newcastle
During out trip to Newcastle this week to attend the Quentin Blake exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery, my mum kindly gifted us some Tesco Clubcard vouchers to have lunch. I chose Ask Italian as during our last school holiday excursion for the Bones exhibit at the Great North Museum we’d walked through the newly refurbished Grey’s Quarter and the restaurant front caught my eye. I’ve worked with Ask Italian before as a blogger when we hosted the Lincs Blog Meet at their restaurant in Lincoln, they were wonderful and the food was delicious. I guess because I had such a good experience I expected the same again and that…

Days Out in England – Quentin Blake: Inside Stories at Laing Art Gallery
Despite being ill on Tuesday, Little Miss and I had a day away to Newcastle, just the two of us. We’d been offered complimentary tickets to the Quentin Blake: Inside Stories at the Laing Art Gallery, and being a huge Blake fan, I just had to go. So we hopped on an early train (train tickets having been bought using my Nectar points) and headed down to the city for a few hours. After a morning of shopping and a terrible lunch, I was feeling all but defeated but thankfully the exhibit was lovely and well worth the trip for. I know what you’re thinking, an art gallery with a…

5 Ways to Cope with Insomnia*
It’s not a secret on my blog that I struggle with insomnia. The first time I ever remember having it I was 13 and it was the summer before I started high school. I was so anxious that I couldn’t sleep for weeks on end. My parents took me to the doctors and I was giving some herbal drops. I used to have to sleep on the sofa so I wouldn’t wake my sister as we shared a room. I remember a low of falling asleep in a cafe. A lot of people tell me at 13 I couldn’t possibly have insomnia but believe me, it went on for weeks,…
