Berwick Food & Beer Festival 2016

Back in 2014 I blogged about our local Food & Beer festival, however last year I was way too sick to take photos. This year though I made a concious effort, even just to have a note of it on the blog. Berwick’s Food & Beer Festival is possibly our families favourite local event of the year so by last Saturday we were hyped. Sadly the forecast wasn’t the best but armed with umbrellas and raincoats we headed over for an afternoon of good food and drink. One of my favourite things about the festival is the number of food stalls there are. I always try and save some money…

Tips for Saving Money Part 2 – Adapting your Lifestyle*

Yesterday I posted the first in this two part series about saving money, that was about ways around the home to save money, today I’m looking at changes you can make to your lifestyle to save money. Yes, this isn’t for everyone.. at the end of the day it’s all about taking a good look at what you’d prefer to get out of life. For me the most important thing at the moment is taking my daughter on wonderful adventures, that’s my priority. If yours is going out partying every Saturday night, you won’t be able to manage to save for a Florida holiday if you’re on a low income,…

Tips for Saving Money Part 1 – Around the House*

I often get asked how I fund my lifestyle as a single mother who works from home and relies on the unstable wage that comes with being self employed. In fact I’ve had some snide remarks that go alone with it, but aside from a few lucky breaks I’ve had in regards to travelling. I live on a very very strict budget and I’m always looking for ways to save money either in the now or in the long run. With the way the country is going, I’m never going to be rich, I’m probably never even going to own a house, but that doesn’t mean I want my daughter…

10 Things That Were Awesome in 2014

I know, I know, I’m six days late in posting one of these round up posts, but of course I still want to do it. On the whole, I’ll look back at 2014 and know that it was a good year. Yes there were some very low points but for the first time since 2011, the good outweighed the bad, and for that.. I’m extremely thankful. So today I’m going to share my 10 favourite memories from 2014 with you all. It’s time to stop dwelling on the rubbish end to the year I had, and start celebrating the good. These are in no particular order, but obviously if I…

The Five Year Plan, Well Sort Of*

I wanted to share that I have finally tried to put together a 5 year plan. I had no idea where I wanted to be in 5 years. Alive, of course but aside from that, who knows?! So I’ve broken down my aims into four categories, hopefully in 5 years time I’ll be able to come back and see how much I managed to achieve. Money  This is clearly the big one. Being a single mother is hard work and is expensive. I won’t lie, every month I end up using my credit card something I always swore in the past I wouldn’t do. So in five years time I…

Berwick Food & Beer Festival September 2014

Usually I’m someone who is very much “Oh we did this last week” or “we did this the other day” but today I’m actually sharing a post about what I did, today! This is a rarity but as I’m still under the weather I wanted to share photographs rather than a lot of text. This weekend in my hometown, it’s my favourite festival, the Food and Beer Festival. Of course, beer & ale I can leave but they also have loads of local produce and possibly my favourite drink for the summer, strawberry cider. It’s also my dad’s favourite festival, and after today, possibly Little Miss’ too! So of course…
