Berwick Food & Beer Festival 2016
Back in 2014 I blogged about our local Food & Beer festival, however last year I was way too sick to take photos. This year though I made a concious effort, even just to have a note of it on the blog. Berwick’s Food & Beer Festival is possibly our families favourite local event of the year so by last Saturday we were hyped. Sadly the forecast wasn’t the best but armed with umbrellas and raincoats we headed over for an afternoon of good food and drink. One of my favourite things about the festival is the number of food stalls there are. I always try and save some money…

Mid Year Round Up 2016
Oh my goodness, we’re over half way through 2016 already! I can’t believe we’re hurtling straight towards the six weeks summer holidays and we’ve barely seen any sun! Depressing. Anyway, aside from the weather 2016 is actually shaping up to be the best year I’ve had in years! Although my mental health on the whole has been a little more rocky than it was in 2015 due to the fact I’m finally medication for anxiety, PST and depression free, which is a huge achievement in itself. This was something I started to wean myself off at the end of last year when the doctor felt I had become to reliant…

Tips for Saving Money Part 2 – Adapting your Lifestyle*
Yesterday I posted the first in this two part series about saving money, that was about ways around the home to save money, today I’m looking at changes you can make to your lifestyle to save money. Tips for Saving Money Part 1 – Around the House*
I often get asked how I fund my lifestyle as a single mother who works from home and relies on the unstable wage that comes with being self employed. In fact I’ve had some snide remarks that go alone with it, but aside from a few lucky breaks I’ve had in regards to travelling. I live on a very very strict budget and I’m always looking for ways to save money either in the now or in the long run. With the way the country is going, I’m never going to be rich, I’m probably never even going to own a house, but that doesn’t mean I want my daughter…

Funding a Happy Life as a Single Mum*
I have now been a single mother for three years and I’ve lived alone with my daughter for almost two. For a while now I’ve been classed as self employed as I couldn’t face going back to shift work with the uncertainty who was going to be there for my little girl. I have retrained as an accountant, but while living in a small town there is limited jobs. I saw self employment as the best way to juggle both my finances and my family. Going back three years ago, I had no idea how I was going to survive on my own. I had lived away from home since…

A Day in the Life, June 2015
So I missed out on April & May as far as a day in the life posts are concerned, but I’m back and I’ve made a note to do it. I’m super sad I was really wanting to do a day while we were in Florida! Maybe in September eh? This was another week day, another Wednesday actually but I’ve tried to photograph different things despite the routine being fairly similar! It’s another week day. Week days fall into two categories on how they play out, if LM is at pre-school in the morning we’re out the house by 8:40 and usually don’t return until 5pm. But this was a…
