19th August – Adventure is Out There

    August 20, 2014 /

Good morning from Washington DC! I can’t believe i’m here! Yesterday was a very long day, I was up at 7:00 and didn’t get to bed until gone 4am GMT but it was actually only 11pm here. The current time it quarter past 6 as i’m wide awake so I decided to take this chance to blog before showering and heading out for the day. Yesterday had its good and bad points. The flight itself was 45 minutes early due to a good tail wind, the food was good and I watched Anchorman 2 & Chef as well as New Girl, Two and a Half Men and Sex and the…

#FriendshipGrows, A Celebration of Friendship with Chisholm Hunter

    August 19, 2014 /

Last week I was sent this wonderful box of goodies by Chisholm Hunter as part of their #FriendshipsGrows campaign. This campaign celebrates friendships that have blossomed through blogging and the stories that go along with them. I’m very grateful I have been lucky enough to make a lot of fantastic friends through blogging who have helped me through the darkest of times. But as ever, I wanted to put my spin on this.. I wanted to talk about how blogging has helped me keep up to date with my most important friend, Bee of Journeys are my Diary. The hardest part of deciding to move back home was knowing that…

    August 2014 Birchbox, First Impressions

    August 17, 2014 /

I’m glad I’ve managed to get this post up quicker this month. My third Birchbox arrived last week and I’ve had enough time to have a try of all the products, so here are my first impressions of the contents. This months theme is Away We Go, and unfortunately, I’ll have to say I wasn’t as thrilled with my contents this month. Maybe it’s because I didn’t recognise any of the brands, or maybe it’s because the product selection just didn’t appeal. Whatever it was, only one of the products really grabbed me. But I guess that’s just the luck of the draw. The novelty of getting a beauty box…

Summer Travel Planning, Part 4 – What’s In My Hand Luggage?

    August 15, 2014 /

Hi, just me again, casually harping on about my holiday which is now less than four days away! Next Friday I will be blogging from the Big Apple itself! I have only a few jobs left to do before Tuesday like using up the contents of my fridge, laying my clothes into my suitcase, buying my dollars and then finally online checking in. I can tell I’m starting to get the pre-holiday jitters, I thought this week would drag but here we are at Friday already! Anyway, my hand luggage is lying on my bedroom floor, all packed apart from the things I use every day like my iPad, my…

Gluten Free American Pancakes with Bacon (and an ice latte on the side) Recipe

    August 14, 2014 /

Last week when I was contacted to let me know I’d been selected by the International Currency Exchange to enter the Travelling for Food Blogger Cooking Competition, I was so excited.. mainly because I knew exactly what I was going to make. While my parents were in holiday and my sister and I were feeling a little down, she whipped up some delicious gluten free pancakes. Gluten free I hear you ask? Why ever for? My sister has discovered this year that she has a major gluten intolerance so we are trying new recipes to find delicious food that she can eat. We are both huge fans of the state side…

    5 Unusual Diamond Uses*

    August 14, 2014 /

When you think about diamonds, images of beautiful jewellery might instantly spring to mind. After all, these precious stones make the most sublime decoration for rings and other accessories. However, there is more to diamond than jewellery. It is extremely hard, boasts a high melting point, does not conduct electricity and is insoluble in water, making it a practical choice for a whole range of other products. Here are five that you may not know of. 1) Abrasives  Because diamond is so hard and durable, it makes the perfect addition to a variety of grinding, cutting, drilling and polishing tools. These include saw blades, drill bits and grinding wheels. For…
