How to Throw a Cocktail Party*
The French have ‘apéritif’, Italy owns ‘aperitivo’ and what do we bring to the civilised space between late afternoon and evening? Happy Hour? Time to revive the louche decadence of a cocktail party we say. It’s the perfect size and shape for people who don’t really ‘do’ parties, doesn’t take a whole lot of planning, works a budget like a bootlegger at a speakeasy and can’t help but whisper good old-fashioned glamour. So if it’s time to release your inner fabulous, here’s what you need to know. Who to Invite and How A cocktail party should feel intimate, but if numbers are important to you, over-invite a little, about 40%…

Walt Disney World – First Day Traditions
Well two weeks today Little Miss and I will be spending our last night in our house for four weeks. No doubt I’ll be running around like a headless chicken and she’ll be having her pre-holiday bath and hair wash. We don’t leave until 4pm the next day but I’ll be busy with all the printing out of boarding passes and breaking my heart over taking my cat to my sister’s. Today however, I have a chest infection and a cold/flu virus so I’ve spent all day in bed with a pack of Lemsip Max capsules for company. Little Miss did make me a get well soon card though. So,…

5 Stages of Shopping Online*
I have a confession to make, I’m dreadful when it comes to buying stuff online, especially if I’ve had a drink or I’m bored. It’s so easy to just open up an app and order something incredibly random or I don’t need, just because it’s there at my finger tips. I go through five stages of online shopping, well at least 5 thought processes and today I’m going to share them with you; What Do I Want? Usually when I’m shopping online, even if I’m drunk and it is a random purchase, I do try to think of what I want. Over the last few years I seem to have…

Little Miss Cosplays, Part Five
It’s getting to that time before a trip where I’m starting to think about what I’m going to be putting into the cases. As we’re away for 4 weeks and 80% of that time is going to be spent in the parks, my main focus is of course on the outfits Little Miss is going to wear. I’m at the stage where I need to try everything on and hope they fit, work out what little accessories she needs (because she’s a stickler for that sort of things these days!) So that of course means we’re going to have regular Little Miss Cosplays posts for the next few weeks. I…

Valentines Day Movies for the Single Gal*
Are we really over 6 weeks into the new year already? How did that happen? Of course that now means we’re up to “singles awareness day” or as everyone else knows it, Valentines Day. Of course I’ll be spending the evening alone, probably getting drunk and crying about how after 4 years I’m still alone (I’m allowed to be sad about it every now and then, OKAY?!) So what can I do? A movie night, some pampering, with chocolate and wine.. obviously! And wouldn’t it be nice if I could watch something on a new Panasonic’s 4K Ultra HD TV? A girl can dream. Anyway, to cheer myself up I’ve…
