#NationalTeaDay Jakks Disney Toddler Dolls Tea Party Review
Happy Birthday Ma’am! The Queen of England is 90 years old today and in celebration of her birthday and all things British it’s also National Tea Day! I have an awful confession to make, but I really hated tea until I had Little Miss at 24! It’s all they gave you in the hospital so I ended up liking it and now I have at least one cup a day. Of course I had my cup this morning, but since LM isn’t up to the tea drinking stage yet, we had a tea party this morning instead with her new Disney Toddler Dolls.
We were kindly sent three of the Jakks Disney Princess Toddler dolls, Sofia, Ariel and Cinderella, along with the Sofia the First tea set to review and help make Little Miss’ royal wishes come true as she celebrates #nationalteaday. Little Miss has really struggled returning to reality after spending nigh on 4 weeks in the most magical place in the world. So having these special royal guests come to her birthday party was an amazing surprise and she ended up crying with gratitude (that’s my girl!) Of course she wanted to also dress as a princess for her royal tea party, and chose her Cinderella dress that was made by Bee who runs her store Closet Geek. With her hair tied up and her accesories she was ready to go.
The first thing to do was of course set up. The Sofia the First Tea Set (RRP £15) comes with a fabric mat with the design of a table on it and areas marked where the cuttlery and crockery go. There are two dainty teacups and a teapot, two tea spoons and four fabric cakes (that Elsa our cat particularly loves). I’m one of those mothers that always tries to find the educational value in a toy, and I do love how this shows your child how to correct set the table (for tea at least). I think it’s adorable how the spoons go inside the napkins! Tea parties such as this one are a great way to trach a child about sharing. While Little Miss was playing it was easy to point out that she should give her royal guests tea and cakes before she served herself. I’m lucky that she’s good at taking directions and when she served for the second time I noticed she went to pour Ariel’s tea first!
The dolls themselves are really cute and actually come in a larger variety than the ones we were lucky enough to receive, so there is a princess for every little girl. Ariel and Cinderella come from the Disney Princess Toddler Dolls (RRP £19.99) range and are a lot more glitsy than anything I would usually buy for Little Miss, however I have completely fallen in love with their dresses which have a gorgeous glittery scene from their own story. Ariel’s even has the boat scene from Kiss the Girl on it, and I love the colours.
Each doll stands at about 15″ and not only do they have their individually designed dress but they have their matching tiara and shoes. I did have a little bit of an issue with Cinderella’s hair being in such a bizarre style, but Ariel’s is gorgeous albiet rather difficult to first get out of the box. However possibly my favourite thing about these dolls are their Her Royal Reflection™ eyes, they’re just beautiful and really worthy of a Disney Princess. The dolls are well made and I can see how they’ll appeal to young children.
The Sofia the First Toddler Doll (RRP £24.99) is equist, I love how much she looks like Sofia and she really is pretty, I think she’s my favourite. She comes with a hair brush and a removable amulet (which LM kept saying she loved.) Her replica dress is on point and her facial features are incredibly well done. She stands the same heigh as the other two dolls at around 15″ and like the Disney Princess Toddler Dolls she has not just her dress but a pair of shoes too. For a child who loves Sofia I cannot recommend her enough, Little Miss was completely thrilled with her.
As a parent that really encourages role play this set up was perfect. I loved watching her interact with her dolls and really make the tea party special. It was a great way to celebrate national tea day. Little Miss can never pass up an opportunity to play princess.
