5 Book Types to Take on Holiday*

    August 24, 2017 /

Although August is coming to an end, that doesn’t mean holiday season is. A lot of people, especially millennials, go on holiday in September as the resorts are quieter and it tends to be cheaper once the kids return to school. I haven’t actually ever been on holiday during July/August since I was a child and my mother was a teacher so we couldn’t go in term time, May and September have always been my holiday months of choice. I was recently asked by Holiday Gems who provide last minute holidays to share some book recommendations that are perfect for travelling and reading by the pool. I won’t lie, I…

My 5 Favourite Chick Lit Authors

    July 12, 2017 /

I always vow I’m going to blog more about books and reading but I never do. I’m always afraid I’ll give away spoilers if I review anything which is why I’ve decided to share favourite authors today rather than books. So far this year I’ve read 14 books, the last time I read that many books it must have been 2012 so I’m pretty impressed with myself. I’ve been doing a lot of long train journeys and that means I can power through without distractions. My favourite genre of books these days is either Young Adult Fantasy (can’t be bothered with those teen growing pains ones, being an adult is…

What Little Miss Read – Edie by Sophy Henn

    February 19, 2017 /

It’s been so long since I’ve gotten around to doing a What Little Miss Read section on the blog, not because we haven’t been reading, because we have, a lot. It just happens to be a lot of books about Biff, Chip, Kipper and Floppy the dog and I’m not the one who’s been doing the reading! I guess that’s what happens when your kid starts school! However when this particular book arrived and we had a read through, I just knew we needed to do a very special post about it and finally today we had a chance to. Edie by Sophy Henn* Edie is the newest children’s book…

What Little Miss Read July & August (and a Giveaway!)

    September 6, 2016 /

So, the summer holidays are over already, can you believe it? I can’t. It just seems like 5 minutes since they started. We actually had a fairly busy summer, lots of quality time together which I’m so thankful for. Little Miss is still enjoying a story before bed (most nights) so we have some new books that we read over the summer to share with you all this instalment of What Little Miss Read. Pom Pom is Super by Sophy Henn* Everyone’s favourite little panda is back with his third story, Pom Pom is Super. Although this is the first Pom Pom book we have ever come across I’m fairly…

I’m Hungry by Jorge Martin Blog Tour & Pea and Feta Potato Cakes Recipe

    July 14, 2016 /

As you all know by now, Little Miss and I love a new book, in fact we have a whole monthly segment on the blog dedicated to what we’ve been reading together and I’m sure with her starting school in September her love of books will only increase. Anyway, what I love more thank just simply reviewing a book with Little Miss, it’s getting creative which is why I was so excited to get involved with the I’m Hungry Blog Tour! But more about that in a bit! First up, our review of I’m Hungry. I’m Hungry is a brand new children’s book written by illustrator Jorge Martin. It’s his…

What Little Miss Read April & May 2016

    June 14, 2016 /

Life has suddenly got a little hectic in our house hold meaning i’m falling behind on series posts such as this one because I just don’t have the time to sit down and really write. Life hasn’t stopped, Little Miss is still loving her books, especially new books that introduce her to new series’ like The Fairytale Hairdresser that I’m going to talk about below. It’s now less than 3 months until LM heads off to big school where she will be bringing home books on a weekly basis as she learns to read. And that’s a scary thought! My other half has been wonderful taking full control on teaching…
