Christmas Jumpers with Zavvi*
I received these jumpers in return for an honest review.
WOO it’s October, and for a lot of people that’s when they start thinking about the C word, as in Christmas. Since becoming a parent, I’ve always started my shopping in September, it gives me three full months to spread the cost, especially as i’m self employed. However, these days I feel like it’s more common with the average household receiving wages monthly rather than weekly. For example, as a kid my mum never used to start until after October half term, but she actually started last week while we were in town. While my sensible head always says this is the only reason people are starting earlier, we’re heading into our second Christmas with COVID hanging over, and perhaps people feel the need to embrace the festivities early again this year. I’m not going to lie, I personally loved seeing everyone put their trees up in November, what a lift in those dark winter nights!
When it comes to Christmas though, it’s not just about the gifts. There is food, events, parties and hopefully this year we’ll see the return of the Christmas market! And of course, not forgetting Christmas Jumper Day, which falls on December 10th this year. As far as Christmas Jumper Day is concerned, both LM and I are all set, thanks to Zavvi, they have sent us a couple of sweaters from their Christmas jumper selection. I love it as it’s all pop culture and movies, giving us something festive we want to wear again and again (I really hope the Tina Belcher “All I want for Christmas is Butts” sweater comes back in stock as I’m obsessed!)
So I went for something a little different this year to add to my Christmas sweater collection! I already have a Star Wars and a Disney festive sweater, so this year I’ll be debuting my new Elf “Christmas Cheer” sweater* RRP £24.99. Elf has a really special place I in my heart. Years ago (I’m talking like 14 years!) I was in a car accident with my then boyfriend. We came home and stayed up all night watching Christmas movies, starting with Elf. I’d never seen it before and it brought me such comfort and made me laugh after a scary time. In more recent years, the movie reminds me of my Dad and sister. My mum doesn’t share our humour, but we all love a bit of Will Farrell. We went Christmas shopping together when my Dad was off sick and as we passed Santa’s grotto, totally out of the blue my Dad shouted “SANTA I KNOW HIM”. It was so random and weird but it’s one of those memories that will always stick with me. I cannot wait to share my sweater with them, knowing it’ll make them think of the exact same memory.
Little Miss went with the Muppets Christmas Pattern sweater* RRP £19.99. Again, for LM, the Muppets hold a very special place in her heart, specifically this years Lock Down birthday. She was absolutely devastated about the fact on her birthday she’d be stuck in the house with me, but in that same week, she binge watched everything related to the Muppets on Disney Plus, and I think it brought her some comfort. On her birthday we blasted The Muppets (the movie with Amy Adams and Jason Segal) soundtrack and danced to Me Party over and over again. Since then, The Muppets have become a bit of a comfort for her and that’s probably why she went with this specific sweater.
Personally, I love the Christmas x Pop Culture sweaters Zavvi offers, especially the ones in the style of LM’s Muppet one where it’s a take on the traditional Christmas sweater. They have everything from Super Heroes to Super Mario! They’re great prices and a lot of them aren’t too in your face Christmas so you can wear them longer in the season (well that’s how I feel anyway). I’ve had sweaters from Zavvi before and I find they wash well, however they do come up a little small to start with so I usually order up as I love the layered look (you know me and a cute collar!) What’s also great, is they seem to have a fair few available in men, women and children sizes so you could go all out matching with your family! I have to say, I was definitely temped, but at nine, I think LM wants her own style.
