#210 Recipe No.16 Cinnamon and Honey Figs
Firstly, let me just say that this recipe isn’t so much a recipe but more of an ingredient inspiration. Recently Sarah of Lovely Strumpet has been posting the most scrummy looking meals on her instagram, a lot of them containing figs, which is a fruit I have to admit has never ever appealed to me. I don’t even like fig rolls! However, Sarah convinced me that they do in face taste good, both in sweet and savoury dishes. So when I saw them on offer in Aldi for 79p for four, I thought, what the heck? And I bought them. At first I didn’t know what to do with them,…

Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh Presents, Smokehouse
A week past Thursday I was invited up to Edinburgh’s branch of the Hard Rock Cafe, this time to learn more about and experience their Smokehouse menu. As I made clearer in my restaurant review back in May, I love The Hard Rock Cafe as it’s something my dad introduced my sister and I to from a young age. So I was really excited to get a behind the scenes look at how the Smokehouse range comes together on the plate. I had a plus one for the event so I invited my fav Scot Kirsty from Indigo Buttons to come with me, I hadn’t seen her since February! On…

A Wanderlust Wishlist – Holidaying in the UK *
Did any of you notice that I’ve swapped my A Wednesday Wishlist feature for something different this week? Today I’m sharing A Wanderlust Wishlist instead, just for a change. And lets face it, we all know how much I love an adventure! After next year there will be no more holidays abroad for Little Miss and I for a good three years. Why? Because my dad promised that when my nephew and daughter have turned 5, he’ll help finance a family trip to Florida. My sister and I are on count down already! However, he’s only offered to pay for accommodation and of course he’ll be renting the car. We…

#213 Recipe No.15 Noodle Soup
As everyone on this planet and out of space knows with my constant moaning, I’ve had a cold for the past week and a half. If I’d been near any university students I would be damn sure I had freshers flu because it’s been as bad and I haven’t been able to drink myself into oblivion to combat it! Instead I made soup. I know usually it’s recommended to have chicken soup when ill but I didn’t have any chicken.. so I settled for the next best thing. Noodle soup but made with chicken stock to get it that comforting taste. Yes, it probably had no medicinal properties but it…

#212 Going Back To School, Better Late Than Never *
Credit First, let me just say from the age of 16 I worked. Even when I was at uni, I worked and should I have stayed in Lincoln, I probably would still be working. However, when I moved back home it meant giving up my job I had to go back to after my maternity leave. Yes, it wasn’t the best job but it would of been flexible and I could of done it until I found something better. When my maternity leave ended a year ago, I went out and got myself a job straight away. Luckily everywhere was after Christmas staff so it wasn’t that hard. Unfortunately, the…
