3 Dream Wedding Destinations*
Since turning 30 I’ve known more and more people around my age getting engaged. Lets face it, we’re all almost 10 years out of university, we’ve been working hard, building homes, travelling the world, having kids, or perhaps doing it all. It’s no surprise that so many people are looking to settle down. Although I myself haven’t reached that point (and at almost 31, i’m wondering if I’ll ever reach that point) it doesn’t stop me dreaming about my own wedding. Over the years my dream wedding idea has evolved. Once upon a time I wanted to be a princess and get married in a castle with hundreds of guests, now I know I would only want my nearest and dearest and it would no longer be a day about me and making me the centre of attention, but it would be about celebrating that mile stone with the people I care most about.
So here are my three dream wedding destinations;
A Beach Wedding
Getting married on a beautiful beach abroad is becoming more popular with couples in the UK. They combine their honeymoon and wedding into one and they either bring family and friends (often having them book their own tickets) or they use locals as their witnesses. Weddings abroad is a booming trade for travel agents who will take care of everything for you like they would with every other kind of holiday so you’ll not feel stressed (well too stressed) in the run up. They can even advise you on what paperwork you need to make it a legal marriage both at your destination and back here in the UK. These sort of weddings are perfect for anyone who doesn’t want too much fuss and (almost) guaranteed sunshine on their big day.
A Country Wedding
Simplistic country weddings are also very popular these days, and I’m definitely more drawn to them these days than a big castle wedding. If this is you, try looking for Hampshire wedding venues, the area there is beauty and the perfect back drop for you big day. With a countryside wedding you can make it as big or small as you want and you can also do a lot of it yourself through ideas from Pinterest. If Hampshire isn’t your cup of tea, try looking for wedding venues in Berkshire or wedding venues in Surrey as they’re equally as beautiful counties in England, and as they’re all down south your more likely to have warmer weather if you’re looking to have a summer wedding.
A Disney Wedding
When I was 9 years old I was riding the Monorail to Magic Kingdom, it goes straight past the Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian and I turned to my God Father saying “that’s where I’m going to get married” he just laughed and to this day he’s never let me forget it. I would still dearly love a Disney wedding, but of course now I know the practicalities (and cost of it) so I’m not sure the Pavilion is likely. However due to the laws in the US, I could still get married on Disney property or have a smaller wedding at a different hotel, Walt Disney World has been such a big part of our lives I’d love to pass that mile stone there. But hey, if I ever meet a millionaire, you know where I’ll be booking hah!
