How to enjoy your journey to Glasgow Airport*

If you spend most of your time in a small town, then navigating your way to Glasgow Airport probably seems more intimidating than a burly bouncer guarding the doors of the most dangerous nightclub in Paisley.

But the truth of the matter is this – making your way from Glasgow to the airport has never been easier, and the city has become ever more hospitable to the fly-by visitor, with a ton of restaurants and hotels nestled in the city centre.

To prove our point, we’re going to show you a few of the city’s hotspots and the easiest ways to travel to the airport. You need never feel intimidated again.

Where to eat
You’re going to want to fill your belly before you travel to the airport, and there are plenty of delicious restaurants to enjoy in Glasgow’s centre.

Our first choice is the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) on Sauchiehall Street. Although every choice on the menu is vegan, this is a mouth-watering selection.

Pizzas, curries, noodles – all of it is to die for, and all of it comes at a reasonable price. Add in a terrific beer selection and you can guarantee a spectacular pre-flight meal at the CCA.

But if you fancy something a little spicier, Tuk Tuk (also on Sauchiehall Street) is one of the best curry houses in the city, and it allows you to BYOB if you want to save some cash before your flight.

Where to sleep
If you’re waiting a day or more in Glasgow before your flight then the city can offer you a host of relaxing and luxurious hotels, all at affordable prices.

One of our favourites is the city’s branch of Citizen M, a series of snug but well-decorated rooms that are controlled using the latest tech. It might be a gimmick, but you can’t beat the simple thrill of controlling the lights in your room with a tablet device.

For a more traditional vibe, we’d recommend the Millennium Hotel, a neoclassical feat of architecture that’s brimming with five-star service. The rooms might be on the pricey side, but there’s no denying that you’ll have an opulent night’s sleep.

Getting to the airport
Buchanan Bus Station is your best bet if you’re looking for affordable travel to the airport. Buses leave from the station 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and don’t cost an arm and a leg. Moreover, it’ll only take 25 minutes to get from the bus station to the airport.

Drivers amongst you will be on the hunt for private airport parking, which is available from Looking4.com’s Glasgow Airport subpage. Check out their site and you’ll enjoy valet parking that’ll save the stress of lugging your suitcase from the car park.
