A gift hamper is a great present for almost any occasion. By creating your gift baskets, one can personalize the contents. Also, it is easy to assemble gift baskets, and results are amazing. They are suitable, particularly, when you can’t decide on a single gift item. Nobody can resist a well-crafted gift basket.
Here are some tips to create a great gift basket:
Select a Theme
You must choose a theme tailored to the recipient. Pay attention to the likes and dislikes of the recipient and focus on his/her favourite interests. Select many items which complement one another as well as stick to the theme. But you don’t have to stress too much upon the contents as any gift hamper is fun to open. There are numerous options, but here are some samples:
- Golfer: Fill up a hamper with golf balls, golf tees, sunscreen, and many more related items.
- Gardener: Include seed packets and variety of gardening tools. Books on gardening and some small potted plants will also be good.
- Avid reader: Go in for several paperbacks especially of a genre loved by the recipient. Bookmarks and a book light can be useful additions.
- New home-owner: Gift a hamper filled with paint brushes, DIY books, duct tape and small tools.
- Crafts lovers: For your much-loved crafter/ knitter, stock the basket with items used for the craft (knitting/ crochet needles) and some books on the subject.
- For a new cook: Stuff the basket with gourmet treats and basic kitchen tools.
- Birdwatcher: Binoculars and a book on bird identification will do.
- Tired homemaker: Give her some time away from chores and gift her a spa day with some leading spa/ beauty products for some pampering at home.
- Movie lover: Movie tickets or DVDs of favourite movies will be loved.
Assembling a Gift Basket
- You must arrange all the items inside the basket. Place a paper doily or cloth napkin at the bottom. All fragile items must be wrapped with tissue or cloth.
- Tall items must be placed in the centre, with medium items on the sides and small ones in the gaps.
- Wrap gift hamper with cellophane: Cut 2 yards of cellophane and place on the table. Place hamper in the centre. Gather up the cellophane, pulling up first, the short sides and then the longer ends. Secure using a long twist tie. You could do with a helper at this stage.
- Add a ribbon to the hamper by creating a fine bow with curved, long tails.
- Attach a gift tag with tape or string to the front of the cellophane cover of the hamper.
- In case, one of the short sides of the cellophane has a gaping hole; you can adjust it by pulling gently on the top. Or else, secure using a small piece of tape.
Tips for Gift Basket
- You can buy cellophane in printed/ coloured/ clear options. A versatile choice is the clear one with a small gold pattern.
- Readymade bows are handy but make sure they are the right size.
- Instead of a basket, one can use items like serving bowl, pie plate, or casserole dish.
These are all some aspects about creating a great personalised gift hamper at home.
