And another incentive for seeking a career in such specialized fields is that they pay big salaries. While forecasts like that of ManpowerGroup’s ‘Annual Employment Outlook Survey’ show that solid hiring gains were expected throughout 2015, with a rise of 19% in staffing levels especially in the areas of Healthcare, Retail and Technology, the recent trends also indicate that as the value of information grows, the IT/A.I./Cloud computing sectors in particular are experiencing  a gigantic boost and seeking employees in a wide variety of career areas (data analysts, software developers/engineers, financial consultants, IT technicians, Cloud computing experts, lawyers, and many more). So the latter industries are attracting numerous professionals and promoting the transfer of skills from seemingly unrelated areas of industry in a constant and reciprocal exchange of innovative ideas.

Interested job seekers should look into the many opportunities for jobs in Manchester, the centre for technology resources and development, a valid alternative for those who just like me live in the North of England and do not want to move to London. An example of a specialized position that is in high-demand and is as yet unknown to most job seekers (even to those who are attending med school and are trying to decide among the innumerable specialized study degrees available),is ‘Nuclear Medicine Technologist,’ but don’t let the title scare you because the advantage is that it only requires a degree from an accredited program, and the best part is that you do not have to go through med school! All it requires is specialization into the advanced technological equipment that is used for diagnosis and treatment (computer tomography, gamma cameras, positron emission topography scanners, etc.).

Or, if you are handy with tools and come from the high tech engineering or manufacturing sector, in the city of Birmingham you can transfer your skills and specialize as a ‘Medical Equipment Repairer’—mechanics and  computer engineers are more than welcome to offer their skills in this Healthcare sector. Naturally, there are many other jobs outside the tech industry that make for an exciting career. Take ‘greeting card writer,’ where you can put your artistic skills to the test in the tourism/travel industry— or even ‘tea sampler,’ in rising demand across the entire UK from London and Dublin to Edinborough. And if you love swimming or are a professional lifeguard looking to have more fun, how about ‘water slide tester’ so you can use your skills to test and promote adequate safety measures for users in the water parks across the globe? In the UK alone you can work at some of the top water parks like the Alton Towers, Blue Lagoon in Pembrokeshire, Waterworld in Stoke on Trent, Splashdown in Poole and Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool—not to mention the great opportunities for travel that this job offers.
