5 Things to Consider Before Choosing a Wedding Venue*
When you get engaged and start to plan your wedding you quick realise there are a lot of things to consider and pay for. No matter what kind of wedding you opt to have, be it home or abroad, it’s not going to be cheap (unless you get married at city hall and have no celebration afterwards) and you need to decide how you want to spend your funds.
One of the biggest expenses is the cost of the wedding venue. Deciding on that is a bit of a mile stone in wedding planning, after deciding on the date of course, and I think once you get that booked you’re well on your way. But first, here are 5 things you should consider before booking your wedding venue;
Is the Marriage Going to be Performed There
If you’re planning on getting married in the UK you need to have the marriage performed somewhere that is certified. You can just choose your back garden or the place you met. The venue must hold a civil ceremony license for performing weddings. So if you want to get married at the same place you’re holding your reception, it’s important to look into this. Bijou Venues have a great selection of beautiful stately homes, all of which are registered to perform ceremonies both inside and out.
Does it Offer a Wedding Package
Another thing to look at when choosing your wedding venue is whether or not it offers a wedding package. A lot of places will offer a package that includes the wedding reception, the champagne for the toast and various food packages whether you want a sit down wedding breakfast or something more casual like a buffet. In the long run it could save you money, and if you get married in an off season on during the week there may even be offers.
How Many People Are Coming
Your number of guests can often dictate what kind of wedding venues you look at. If you have a large number of guests, you need to choose somewhere that holds a lot of people, so a small restaurant or hall could be out. However, if you are having an intimate number of people, you don’t want a massive house or marquee that’s going to feel empty.
What Time Of Year Are You Wanting to Get Married
This one is more common sense. But if you want to get married in a marquee, this is probably better suited to the summer months. The same if you want outdoor photos taken. However, weddings in the winter are usually cheaper, especially at popular wedding venues. So if you’re on a budget it might not be the worst thing in the world to have a winter wonderland wedding (one of my best friends did and it was beautiful!)
Is it Easy for Your Guests to Access
Finally, if you decide to get married somewhere separate from where your wedding reception is held, how easy is the journey between the two? And like wise if you decide to get married in the countryside, are there enough taxi services in the area to shuttle your guests around? You may have a wedding car, but those of your guests who decide to drink could end up stranded and that’s not a stress you should be having on your big day.
Once you have your venue booked, you can start enjoying the fun things like colour schemes, cake tasting and dress shopping. If you need bridesmaid dresses why not check out https://www.promdressfinder.co.uk/ as they have a lovely selection!
