A Day in the Life, February 2015
Last month I started a new series on the blog (because I seem to fair better doing one that I only need to think about once a month) and this of course is my “A Day in the Life” series. For January I chose to do a regular day, but this month I chose to document a very special day.. going away to the cinema for Little Miss’ birthday. Her birthday was actually last month but due to one thing and another we didn’t get until last Tuesday. The photos are rubbish quality because I decided to give my dad’s point a shoot a test run and I just can’t get to grips of not having a camera with a view finder! It’s a really good camera but because I’m so used to having a SLR now I was just rubbish with it. But of course it being a rare day where we went away, it’s not like I could go back and re-shoot it (although I would dearly love to haha).
Morning. As usual, we slept in. So once we got up I shoveled down a yoghurt and a smaller than usual coffee, gave LM her cereal and toast while I got dressed. Then I dressed her in a Disney appropriate dress that she received from my parents for Christmas. While she finished breakfast and put on some make up before heading out to catch out bus. Thankfully our bus stop is just around the corner. On the bus LM always wants to sit right at the back if it’s empty. It takes about 15/20 minutes to get to the station depending on the traffic. At the station I allowed Little Miss to pick out a sweet in the shop as we had a 20 minute wait for the train. It was so cold so we hung out in the waiting room until the train came. It takes 45 minutes to get to the city and once there we had to get onto another train. There was another 20 minute wait so we shared a white chocolate and raspberry hot chocolate. I share because LM ate the cream and marshmallows and I drank the hot chocolate. I had decided to take a day off my Slimming World diet so I could treat LM to pizza. We arrived at the shopping centre just before lunch, but with just enough time to pop into the Disney Store.
Afternoon. We spent a good half any hour in the Disney Store as I had £100 worth of vouchers to spend that I won in a competition last year. I had a list of a few bits I needed for our holidays, I bought two new mugs and then I let Little Miss spend the rest as this was a trip for her birthday. Then we headed to Zizzis for lunch as my mum had given me some of her clubcard vouchers to turn into some money off. We got a bread basket and a pizza between us. Little Miss did rather well as usual. Straight after lunch we headed to the cinema. We had pre-booked tickets again using my mum’s Tesco clubcard vouchers to see Big Hero 6, the new Disney movie. This was Little Miss’ first time to the cinema to watch the movie. I treated her to some ice cream and then we headed in to take our seat. The movie was absolutely awesome! I cried loads which is always the sign of a good Disney movie. Little Miss was amazing! She sat through the whole thing, I was so proud! After the cinema we went to Primark to pick up more things for our holiday. Then to save money and stop myself being tempted in any more stores we headed to Ed’s Diner for a drink. LM had her first strawberry milkshake and I had a cherry coke float. Before we caught the train back to the city, then our one home. Unfortunately it was so busy that we had to sit on the floor, but we didn’t mind.
Evening. My mum collected us from the station and took us home. I was so happy to see Elsa and LM had to been so well behaved so I treated her to a Big Hero 6 game on my iPad. She played until bed at 7pm. Once she was all tucked in I took a bath and watched some Doug. I must have been in there a good couple of hours. Once out I sorted my skin, I settled down for the night with a hot chocolate.

This sounds like such a perfect birthday day out for Little Miss!
Isn’t Big Hero 6 incredible?! I’ve already seen it twice and I’m already itching to see it again – I really, really, really want my own Baymax, haha! He is such a cutie. Well done to Little Miss for managing to sit through the full film.
It looks like you got such an incredible mix of things from the Disney Store – £100 to spend in there is my idea of heaven!

Oh, did you mean Doug the cartoon? I used to love that!
Looks like a fabulous day – I’d not heard of the new Disney film, but will hopefully catch it at some point.

I love these little ‘day in the life’ posts, so cute. Whenever I read about you and LM, it makes me so excited for my own little girl to arrive because your bond is enviable – it’s adorable to see. It looks like she a wonderful belated birthday! I’ve been dying to try Ed’s Diner and that cherry coke float sounds divine.
