21st August – This Is Just Part of Growing Up, A Little Adventure, A Little Rebellion

So guys, today I’m updating from a bus somewhere between New York and Washington DC. The bus has wifi and I can’t sleep so I thought i’d check in. I can’t wait to get to Manhattan and my first stop is Magnolia Bakery because I have been dreaming of their banana pudding! I have more site seeing planned today, including a trip up Top of the Rock, as well as Central Park & Times Square.

Yesterday wasn’t really a site seeing day, it was a seeing friends day and hanging out. In the end I didn’t take many photos as I wanted to spend the time actually hanging out and chatting rather than hiding behind my lense. I met Mary & Emmy in DC and they offered to drive me ou to West Virginia to surprise Alicia since shouldn’t make it. We did The Museum of American Hitory first, then we had dinner in this little underground cafe that did buffet style. It was so good, I had chinese which I’d been craving.

After a few mistakes on the metro system we made it out the city to the car & headed off to W Virginia.  It was awesome to not be in tourist mode. To hangout and drink a sweet tea from Mcdonalds for a $1 that was the size of my head (see Instagram for the proof) We surprised Leash and headed to a mall in Maryland (9 states now, it’s a life goal to visit all them). I threw money at Toys R Us, Hot Topic & Hallmark before we drove to Chipotle. Oh mannnn that was so good! I had a bowl with chicken, rice, salsa, sour cream & guac wih chips. Then Mary drove us all to my hotel. It was definitely an emotional goodbye because I had such a good day.

After packing I managed a modest 5 hours sleep as I had to be at Union Station for 7am. The bus trip is okay so far, so much space but pretty cool thanks to the aircon. Got just over an hour to go which is good because I REALLY need coffee.

DC, it was great! I’m so glad I visited! You’re beautiful and another reason I love US holidays! NYC here I come!
