Have the Best Time in The Bahamas*
When you think about beautiful beaches, endless streams of sunshine and relaxed living, the Bahamas is probably the first place that comes to mind. Made up of no less than 7000 separate islands and in excess of 2,000 tiny cays, in the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, the Bahamas is a dream holiday destination for many. However, so few people really make the most of their time there, choosing to spend the bulk of their vacation on the beach. Although the beaches are indeed beautiful and spending time there is like visiting heaven for a while; there is so much more to do when you’re vacationing in the Bahamas.
Here are some of the activities that will ensure you have the best time in the Bahamas:
Make Friends with Dolphins
The Dolphin Experience, which is located on Grand Bahama Island, gives you the opportunity to interact with fun-loving, friendly bottlenose dolphins. Unlike many similar attractions, the dolphins here are kept in humane open-water areas, instead of being caged in, and they are looked after by caring staff who are only too happy to tell you everything they know about the beautiful creatures.
Port Lucaya
If you love to shop, you’ll fall head over heels with Port Lucaya, where you can take your pick of duty-free perfumes and clothing, authentic straw crafts, souvenirs and luxury jewelry. If you want to get the best prices, you will need to barter, but that’s just part of the fun.
As well as shopping islands, Port Lucaya is packed with over 30 quality restaurants, a gazebo that hosts live bands and activities like karaoke and casino gambling.
It’s also a must-see for James Bond fans having been featured in both Never say Never Again and Thunderball. If you take your time to explore the crystal clear waters, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of tropical fish as far as the eye can see. You should also make an effort to make your way through the complex underwater maze at Staniel Cay, which is a delight to see.
Lucayan National Park
Lucayan National Park is one of three on the Grand Bahama Island, but it is undoubtedly the best. Sprawled over 40 acres of palm trees, pines and mangroves, it is home to some of the prettiest sandy beaches, underwater limestone caves and exotic birdlife on the planet. It is also a good place to go horseback riding on the beach or to try your hand at kayaking.
Marine Habitats at Atlantis
If you love looking at sharks and marvelling at tropical fish, you should take the time to visit the Marine habitats at the Atlantis Resort, where you can see specimens as diverse as sharks, dolphins, and piranhas in one of the biggest underwater aquariums, which was set up to showcase the best exotic marine life in the world. In total, there are more than 50,000 marine creatures and over 250 species just waiting to be explored.
