Halloween Outfit Ideas for Adults*

Halloween is fast approaching now and while you may enjoy it more as an adult, you certainly enjoy it in a different ways. Once upon a time, dressing up for Halloween meant a costume, be it to go trick or treating as a child, or a night out on the town.. but once you’re older you don’t have the same reason to want to wear an actual costume, but perhaps you’re like me, and you still want to embrace the season of spook. I have to admit, now I’m in my 30s and have a kid who is pretty much past the trick or treat age, I seem to enjoy Halloween much more. Halloween and Autumn have almost merged together and we decorate the lounge and watch spooky movies from September through til mid November when it’s socially acceptable to embrace Christmas! So of course, my wardrobe quite often reflects that, and yours can do too!

Here are a few ideas to add a touch of Halloween to your day to day outfits;

A Spooky Shirt

I don’t mean, literally spooky like the buttons fly off or it flaps around like a ghost.. I mean like a pop culture Halloween reference tee. It could be Disney with a Halloween twist? Or perhaps something from your favourite horror movie like the ones you get Truffle Shuffle. If the weather is getting colder, you could also go for a flannel shirt or a sweater, there are plenty out there on the market.

Grab a Bag

If you wear a uniform on your day to day and your own clothes are only really worn at the weekend. Why not grab a Halloween inspired bag by Loungefly? This year the popular bag brand has upped their Halloween offerings with everything from your favourite horrors, to Disney villains and even generic pumpkins. Loungefly are always a good investment and something you can bring out year after year along with your favourite Halloween candles.

Accessorise It

If you want to go for something understated, stick to accessories. Why not choose a knot band in some Halloween fabric? Or you could wear a chain with a pumpkin pendant. Or why not pin a few spooky shaped brooches like a spider, onto your cardigan or shirt? When it comes to accessorising, the possibilities are endless. Hey, you could even go as fair as wearing stripy witch socks that were popular back in the early 00s? I was a sucker for a pair that went right over my knees paired with a little leather skirt!

Embrace Witch Vibes

If you’re not really into pop culture or motifs, then you could just take a walk on the dark side with your wardrobe. Pair autumn shade of navy, plum and bottle green with black. Choose long skirts, and lace up boots, leather jackets. Maybe even incorporate this with a bold lipstick, khol rimmed eyes and those iconic black nails. And hey, if this is already your every day look, you’re right on brand this holiday season so embrace it!
