A Quick Guide to Planning a Baby Shower Party*

Baby showers are celebration times. But before you get to the fun of the party, you need to plan to ensure that it is a success. Here is a quick guide to guarantee a fun and festive time for everyone at the shower:

Choose a date and time

If it is not a surprise baby shower, you can consult with the expectant mom on when they feel will be the most appropriate. The mom-to-be might be tired the weeks before the baby arrives and may not be in the best mood for a party. Ensure that the date to agree upon is at a time when the expectant mom is well into her pregnancy but early enough to give her time to sort through the shower gifts to decide items she may need to buy before her bundle of joy arrives.

Come up with a guest list and a budget

You can ask the mom for a list of people they would love to have at their baby shower. Ask her to give you their contacts and email addresses to be easy to reach. Then come up with a favourable budget. The budget will guide you in selecting a venue and activities for the shower.

Select a venue

After coming up with the budget, you will need to choose a venue that works within the said budget. If it is a little tight, you can consider holding the shower in the backyard or the living room. You can get to have an intimate yet affordable place to have the party. If you have a little more wiggle room within the budget or have an extensive guest list that won’t allow for a small set-up, you can opt for a hotel or restaurant. The best thing about having a shower at a restaurant is that the staff take care of all the catering, cleaning, and setup. You can all sit and enjoy the event.

Plan the décor and menu

Ensure that you plan all the shower details a few weeks prior; to accommodate any supplier delays. You can opt for beautiful personalized party supplies that for sure up your décor game notches higher. Come with the menu that meshes with the expectant mom’s tastes. You want her to enjoy her shower as much as possible. You could choose to serve small portions of food to make it easier for the guests to enjoy everything.

Send invitations

Ensure that you send the invitation on time to give the guests adequate time to plan themselves. Telling them on time allows them time to shop for gifts and organize their various responsibilities accordingly. You can search online for templates for cute invitations or settle for email invitations if the party is not too formal.

Have a program for the shower

Come up with an activity plan for the day. Find baby shower games and other fun activities that will keep everyone entertained and engaged. You can serve light snacks in between the games.

Select shower favors

You want all the guests that took their time to come to the baby shower to feel appreciated. Pick simple parting gifts to thank the guest for attending. You can be fancy and give gifts that are in line with the theme of the shower.

Final Remarks

Make a checklist of the pointers we have made. Ensure that you tick everything off that list. Once you have checked everything, it is time to make merry and celebrate the expected life.
