The Busy Girl’s Skincare Routine*

With skincare, it’s all change whenever a new season rolls in and shortly we’ll be saying goodbye to Summer and hello to Autumn. My skin reacts differently to the cooler weather so naturally it’s best to change the products to something that suits better. In the summer I tend to suffer from oily skin. I’m sure it has a lot to do with it being warmer and of course sweating. I’m not one of these people who has skin that magically clears up in the sun, I still get those horrible annoying pimples whatever the weather, but in the cooler months I also have to battle dry patches on my cheeks and of course the horrendous plague of chapped lips.

As a mother, and someone who is self employed, I need a skincare routine that is quick and easy. I only have time maybe one evening a week for a face mask so I need something that really does the job. So here are my thoughts for what would make up my busy girl routine this Autumn.

Make Up Removing

Now that I’m in my 30s I actually use a cleansing balm to remove my make up and I have noticed such a huge difference. With having sensitive skin I need something that isn’t too harsh when it comes to removing whatever I’ve had on my face. I also use reusable pads so I feel like I’m helping the environment too.

Moisturising

I’m going to take the same tone as I do with kid when I want her to do something important, YOU SHOULD BE USING MOISTURISER WITH SPF EVERY DAY. This is my advice for 2020. I have been doing for the last few years and I’ve finally found a good MOISTURISER with factor 50 SPF in it. I wear it every day no matter what the weather is, and you should be too. I’ll be continuing this in the colder months, just because it’s cooler, doesn’t mean the sun isn’t doing damage.

And as a footnote, I’ve also started using an anti aging cream overnight. I’m 32, I know that’s not old. But I have noticed such a difference to my skin. As we head into the winter, this is definitely something I’m going to continue doing as it’s the harshest months for my skin.

Mask It Up

During the summer months, I’ve really let using a mask a week slide. In the past I’ve been putting one on while in the bath however during the warmer weather I’m all for showering (that and I’ve been decorating my bathroom). I feel like it’s time I started using a face mask once a week. I like one that is for clearing pores and really drags the dirt to the surface. I feel this even more important in the winter when my skin is at the risk of drying out and trapping the dirt.

Take Supplements

When my hair started to fall out due to PCOS I started taking a tablet to help and I’ve found out you can also take something to help with your skin. But I’ve also found out that taking CBD for skincare is a thing and I’ve loved looking up the benefits. I’ve used CBD in the past to help with my anxiety. Did you know that it not only helps with eczema and psoriasis, but it can help with anti-aging, acne and skin dryness? It really is a wonder product!

Do you shake up your skincare for the cooler months?
