5 Autumn Date Ideas*

As a singleton, I always feel the urge to look for someone to settle down with once the Autumn weather rolls in. I don’t know if it’s because it’s cold outside and it makes me want to snuggle with someone or if it’s because Christmas is just around the corner, which to me is way more “couple-y” than Valentines Day. Not only that, but I look my best in a chunky knit, denim pinafore and a beret. Why wouldn’t I want to show that off?

Whether you’re in a relationship or a single pringle like myself, Autumn dates are some of the best you can have. The weather is chilly enough that you can use it as an excuse to hold hands, but not so cold your teeth are chattering too much to have a conversation. If you’re still looking for someone to share your life with, look for a local dating agency such as Staffordshire Singles, and make a start today.

Anyway, here are some of my favourite date ideas for the season;

Grab a Hot Drink in a Cozy Cafe
We’ll start with the most obvious, and I imagine it is especially popular with all the pumpkin spice lovers out there (myself included), grab a hot drink in a cozy cafe. For starters, Autumn has some of the best themed drink and there is nothing more romantic than sitting close in a coffee shop getting to know someone. Believe me, I know. The atmosphere is great for a date, especially if you choose a locally owned coffee shop rather than the big chains.

Horror Movie Marathon
Autumn and Halloween go hand in hand, right? So a horror movie marathon is a perfect date. Check to see if your cinema is running one, and if not (and you’re comfortable with this) host your own! Personally, I’m not a horror movie fan, but they make great dates as you can hide your face if you’re a total scaredy cat like me! Any excuse to cuddle close, right?

Go to an Oktoberfest
I don’t normally condone getting upside down drunk on your first date, so maybe save this one until later on in your courtship (ooh). Oktoberfests are a great place to let loose and have fun. There is a great atmosphere, good music, sometimes dancing and lets not forget all the food stalls!

Take a Walk
The most simple and cheapest of dates, but definitely the most enjoyable date activity particularly in Spring or Autumn. Bundle up and meet at a local point of interest and simply walk. You can relive your childhoods by collecting conkers or brambles, enjoy the colours changing in the trees and chat. And did I mention, Autumn wear for you ladies is the cutest!

Enjoy a Firework Display
My final suggestion is another one where you get to sit close and cozy up, go to a firework display on Bonfire Night. I did this as a second date back in my late teens and it was one of the best dates i’ve ever had. We watched the fireworks side by side, we drank hot cider, at hot dogs and chatted about our own memories of fireworks. It was a great bonding experience.

So get out there and date the heck out of Autumn, with your spouse, your partner or even someone new there is so much fun to be had this season.
