5 Reasons to Visit Chaweng in Thailand*

This post is in collaboration with Villa Finder.

With the end of British Summer Time nigh, and having just finished enjoying our final fling in the sun this past bank holiday, I know myself and many other Brits will have started to think about a holiday in the sun for 2020. With the rise of social media, and people wanting to put their money towards a holiday in paradise that will look amazing in their grid (that is the way of the world these days), a bucket list hot spot like Thailand is becoming increasingly popular with all sorts of travellers, from retired couples, to young honeymooners, backpackers and even families. It’s no longer just the place where young adults head on their year off, it’s a desirable holiday destination for many.

Flights to Thailand are easy enough to price up from the UK. I suggest using a website like Sky Scanner to price up different times of year. Flight prices fluctuate day to day and I find setting notifications the best way to track this.

As for accommodation, Villa Finder is a perfect way to find your dream place to stay. You won’t risk running into problems by booking some undesirable destination blindly because each villa holiday on their website is inspected and hand picked so customer happiness is guaranteed. If you’re looking to book a villa holiday in Thailand, Villa Finder can do the leg work for you. With your given budget and travel requirements such as number of people, trip length and time of year, the wonderful team at Villa Finder can find just what you’re looking for. Not only that, while on your dream holiday, you’ll have access to the Concierge team. They can help with arranging anything you need, from groceries to tours and special activities. As a client you won’t have to worry about a thing.

I’ve been doing my research and Chaweng caught my eye as somewhere that would make a wonderful holiday. It’s a wonderful beach town in the Koh Samui region of Thailand and it’s the perfect mix of party and relaxation. I’m not someone that likes to sit in silence on holiday, I like to have fun AND lie on a beach and I feel that Chaweng could fit the bill for both of those things.

Here’s 5 reasons why you should book Chaweng for your next sunshine getaway;

It’s a Town of Two Halves
While the central part of Chaweng is a hive of nightlife, restaurants and general activity, the northern part promises peaceful retreats and deserted white sands, it really is a place to please everyone. Which is obviously great if you’re taking a multi-generational trip! It also means you don’t need to travel far to experience different environments while on holiday. Spend one night partying, and recover the next day on a secluded shore, win and win.

The Beaches Themselves are Amazing
When you think of Thailand, you think of that movie, The Beach right? And although none of that freaky stuff that happened in the movie will affect you in anyway, the beaches are as glorious as they look on screen. White sands, crystal blue seas, lush vegetation. It really is a place of paradise and Chaweng is no exception.

There Is a Lot to Keep You Busy With
I’m not a beach person. A few days lying on the sand and wading in and out of the sea is all I can manage in one go. I like to have stuff to do, which is one of the reason I wanted to tell you about Chaweng. There is a lot to do! As I mentioned above, the central area is alive with many restaurants (food is a huge part of a holiday for me), shopping areas and a great atmosphere. There is even an Aquapark and an indoor sky diving centre!

It’s a Great Base to Explore From
If you fancy doing some excursions to some other places in Thailand, Chaweng is a great place to start from. You can visit neighbouring Ko Tao and Ang Thong National Marine Park, both are incredibly popular with tourists. The Ang Thong National Marine Park is an archipelago of 42 islands and is a popular offshore destination, it has everything from sunbathing and swimming, to kayaking and snorkeling. If you came to see some wildlife, that’s the place to head.

And It’s a Food Lovers Paradise
I’ve briefly mentioned how great Chaweng is for people who like food (me), but did you know you could visit the Samui Institute of Thai Culinary Arts? Here you could learn to make Thai food from scratch yourself in their cooking classes. Or you could visit the Laem Din Market and try local delicacies. This is a great place to head if you’ve decided to go self catering in a villa as you can explore the market and pick up everything you need to get creative in the kitchen.

If you still don’t think Chaweng is the place for you, there are other parts of the Ko Samui region that may be better suited. Villa Finder has a full Samui region page that you can browse. Villa Finder also have links to destinations such as Bali, Vietnam, Myanmar, Australia, New Zealand, The Maldives, India, Cambodia and Japan, so I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.
