Samsonite Disney Ultimate 4 Wheel Spinner Case Review
If you’re an avid reader of Cocktails in Teacups, you’ll know I declared this year as the year of Disneyland Paris. As the months go on we do miss Florida terribly but we are making some fab memories on our trips to DLP. So far we’ve managed 3 this year thanks to our annual passes, with another 3 to go (and possibly one in January before our pass expires). Our favourite way to travel is via Eurostar which involves an almost 4 hour journey to London then almost 3 across however by taking the Eurostar we do arrive right into the gates of DLP which is a huge bonus. Flying takes nearly as long given we are an hour & a half from the airport and we need to be there 2 hours before flying then almost 2 hours in the air. ANYWAY, of course these sort of journeys on my own with a 5 year old and luggage take it’s toll. Back in January I really hurt my hip dragging a heavy suitcase on two wheels and running for a connection (long story really) and ever since then I’ve been trying to resolve the luggage solution, and I think I finally have with my newest suitcase.
It is a hard shell case, something I’ve never had before as I’m always worried that it’ll make the case heavier. However it doesn’t. The case is so light and the fact it’s on four wheels means I don’t need to drag it around. For someone who has never recovered from back problems since having her kid this is a huge deal. It wasn’t even heavy after i’d done my holiday shopping. The four wheels spreads the weight and no matter how full the case is I don’t notice it while wheeling it.
The case has two compartments. One that is sealed with a zip overlay and the other has the standard elastics to hold your stuff in place. These areas were big enough for LM and I to have one each. I was worried that the case wouldn’t shut properly if I overfilled the unsealed side but I honestly never had an issue zipping it up, even on the return journey, it zipped up perfectly. I was so impressed. I’ve never had a case that I’ve not had to sit on to close up.
Of course for the price tag you expect good quality. Having never owned a Samsonite case before I had no idea what to expect but it’s fantastically sturdy and hard wearing, definitely something I’d want to invest in. Not only that but it comes with a built in locking mechanism, something I haven’t encountered before but I love. I have in the past lost keys to suitcase locks and had to have them cut off (yes this happened while in New York one time) and it’s now an eternal fear of mine (they charged me $25) but this lock works like a safe combo so all I need to do is remember the numbers. I locked it to leave it in storage in London and at Disneyland Paris and I didn’t worry once that it was going to be broken into.
Overall, I’m over the moon. This is by far the most superior piece of luggage I’ve ever owned and it’s definitely opened a whole new world for me. I want to invest in pretty and expensive luggage, for the amount of travelling I do it definitely pays to have quality. I’ve wrecked two suitcases in the last 6 years because two wheels and the amount I carry just didn’t mix. Although this particular suitcase is currently out of stock, there is a whole Minnie Mouse range including a cabin approved case I want so badly for our trip in October (we’re flying with my parents) and a backpack.
