Disney Confessions Part 2
Over a year ago now there was a Disney Confessions type post making the rounds and I took part in it sharing my deepest darkest opinions on all things Disney and today I’m back with more. I had always intended on doing a second (and maybe third) confessions post and even marked my original one as part one and here I am! I’m fairly sure some of these are “unpopular opinions” but I kinda don’t care, these are my own personal opinions but I’d love to hear yours!
Emma Watson really wasn’t Belle for me
For me, she was the weakest part of the whole movie. In acting, singing and really just capturing the role of Belle. After discussing it today with my sister I’ve come to the conclusion she was just flat and nothing-y (a bit like Aurora in the animation Sleeping Beauty). Belle is one of the strongest and most interesting Disney princess and I just don’t think Emma Watson did her justice. Whenever I give this opinion I always get asked who I’d have rather seen in the role and my answer is; Samantha Barks (she played Eponine in the Les Mis movie)
Disneyland Paris’ Peter Pans Flight is better than Walt Disney Worlds
It may be in French but I just love the ride itself more in Paris. It’s truly beautiful and the flight over London is just breath taking. Even though the new queue system in Walt Disney World is better (I hate the queue in DLP, it’s so tight!) I’d still pick to ride the DLP version over the WDW version.
I’m so psyched about the Duck Tales TV show
Duck Tales was one of my favourite TV shows as a child! I love it and I love that it’s coming back. The voice cast sound spot on even if I’m not sold on the modern animation (I’ve always preferred the hand drawn stuff.) It looks great and both LM and I will be watching religiously once it airs. And yes she’s watched all the old shows including the movies.
I think all Disney Princesses are good role models in their own way
I know this is a hugely unpopular opinion but I feel watch Disney princess has something to offer in the way of being a good role model. Snow White is sweet and caring even after being thrown out of her own home and threatened with murder by her step mother. Cinderella believes in courage and kindness even though she’s mistreated by her step mother and step sisters. Aurora continues to do her duty even when she has just met the man of her dreams, she vows never to see him again and accepts her role as a princess. Ariel (despite being the most foolish) does anything to achieve her goal of being human, yes she falls in love but even prior to Prince Eric she had wanted to live on land. Belle shows you that it’s okay to be different. Jasmine is the first princess to know her worth when it comes to men, she’s not a prize to be won. Pocahontas defies her father and people for what she believes is right even though that could mean death. Mulan saves freaking China! Tiana teaches kids that you also need to put in hard work and perseverance to achieve your dreams. Rapunzel never gives up on being optimistic despite the fact she’s been trapped in a tower her whole life. Merida shows you that you don’t need a man, you don’t need to conform and that you can change your fate.
I’m pretty mad there is going to be a Toy Story 4
Guys, it had a nice ending, why we need another I’ll never know. Even though I cried so much in the cinema a child had to “shhh” at me, I loved the way it wrapped everything up. All loose ends were tied up, it was a perfect ending to the trilogy. And now they’re doing a 4th one. WHY? Just leave it be guys, everyone was happy including the toys!
The Grey Stuff is not delicious
Why everyone raves about how amazing the grey stuff at Be Our Guest in Walt Disney World is, I’ll never know! It’s literally whipped cream and crushed up oreo. My recommendation for dessert at Be Our Guest is the lemon raspberry cream puff, perfect if you’ve had the steak as a main and want something light for dessert! While I’m on be Our Guest, my favourite sitting is actually breakfast and not dinner, it’s also only quick service on the dining plan, bargain.
Also, did anyone notice that the grey stuff is actually caviar in the live action movie?
I prefer parades and shows over fireworks and projection shows
I will always pick Specro Magic, Main Street Electric Parade and Fantasmic over Dreams, Wishes and the Star Wars shows in the Studio parks. I much prefer interaction than watching a soundtrack with fireworks. I get choked up I guess but I would always choose a show or parade over the latter. And I certainly would never sit in the freezing cold for Dreams or take time out my evening to get a castle spot for Wishes, I’d just choose to watch it from where I was standing.
I will always love Dream Along with Mickey over Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire
For me, Mickey’s Friendship Faire is lacking in so many areas. I know everyone loves Frozen & Tangled and it’s nice to see Princess and the Frog getting some recognition but it just doesn’t have the heart that Dream Along had. Dream Along had amazing songs, costumes, a great story and a nice classical selection of characters. It was one of my favourite things at Walt Disney World until it’s end last April (we were there for it!). I watched Friendship Faire twice on our last trip where as Dream Along I would watch daily and often multiple times, it truly incorporated everything that represents Disney magic right down to using the dreams to defeat Maleficent.
As usual, this came far too easily to me so look our for another confessions post, hopefully coming much sooner than a years time!
