Summer 2016 Essentials
LINKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED AS ITEMS NO LONGER FOR SALE
The last two days it has finally felt like summer is on it’s way, and because of that reason a summer related post had to be on the cards. It’s been a while since I mentioned any form of beauty products I regularly use on the blog so today I’m giving you my summer essentials.
I always try to rotate my products with each season for my skin and hair to make sure the natural elements of each time of year don’t affect how I look. I know that’s a bit vain but with incredibly sensitive skin and crazy dyed hair it is something I have to consider. Not only that, but two weeks ago I finally made the move from red back to blonde (it’s a working process which is why there are no photos on the blog yet, it’s still not quite right!) So this summer I really have to take care of it now I’ve added bleach to it, it already feels a lot drier than it used to be (but hey at least I can go a good week between washes now, that must help in the long run, right? I’m clearly no beauty guru!) So lets start with the hair products i’m swearing by this summer;
Charles Worthington Colour Enhancer Violet Shampoo – My hairdresser recommended I get violet shampoo to help keep the brassy look of freshly bleqched hair to a minimum. My hair still has a lot of yellow tones in it so we’re hoping eventually the violet shampoo will help neutralise those without bleaching it too many more times. Of course the sun will now lighten it naturally on top of that.
Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Conditioner – If I’m using some violet shampoo, I had to get a decent conditioner that also helps maintain blonde hair. It apparantly it helps hydrate bleached hair along with offering UV protection (very important for chemically treated hair) and it’s suitable for daily use. I’ve been using it for the past three washes and I can definitely see a difference in the dryness of my hair.
Charles Worthington Colour Shield Spray – When making the move from red to blonde the one thing I was terrified about was my hair was breaking. Thankfully however it was in brilliant condition and all I can put it down to is using this spray religiously while I was in Florida. I didn’t want to dye my hair half way through my trip so I brought this along to protect it from the sun and it actually kept my hair in amazing condition and the colour bright. Now I’m blonde I’ve continued to use and will do right through the summer. It’s also great heat protection if you’re using curlers or straighteners.
Flower Crowns – Flower crowns and blonde beach waves, need I say more?
Soap & Glory Butter Yourself Body Cream – When it comes to summery scents for body washes, lotions and scrubs, I cannot go past Soap & Glory. A personal favourite right now is the Butter Yourself Body Cream. The five fruits make it smell amazing and I find it so moisturising especially on freshly shaved legs (another summer essential, but we’ll get to that!)
Nivea Sun Protect & Sensitive Factor 50 – A bit of a no brainer really but sun cream! I love the Nivea Sensitive range as I can use the same one of Little Miss and I as it’s good for both or skin and offers a very high level of protection as we’re both so fair.
Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm – Nivea MEN? Weird right but I cannot tell you how amazing this is as a PRIMER. I used it the whole time I was in Florida and it kept my make up intact during the heat, rain, water rides and humidity that comes with a Disney holiday. I will be continuing to wear it over the summer so I never feel like I have to apply make up more than once (lets face it, I always forget it again), don’t believe me? Here are a couple of blogger reviews!
Gillette Venus Snap Portable Razor – I am someone who can’t get away with not shaving my legs if I’m going to have them out (although now I have a boyfriend I shave them way more than I usually do, just now anyway!) I love the Snap Portable Razor by Gillette because it comes in a little box making it convenient to take away with me. As I’m going on holiday though I need to look into something better for the bikini line as I don’t find Venus razors that great for keeping things neat.
