Tomorrow is Gorgeous Grandma Day, and although I do think all these “unofficial” celebration days are a bit silly, I’m happy to take any opportunity to praise my Nanny (my Grandmother) and my mum (Little Miss’ Grandmother), especially after the year we’ve had with loosing my Grandpa.

My Nanny is one in a million. She is now the head of our family after her husband, my Grandpa passed away in January. They have been together since my Nanny was 15 and married since she was 17. They were the epitome of old school childhood sweethearts and together they had 5 children, 16 grandchildren and so far 13 great grandchildren. That’s a large family to head. My Nanny is truly the heart and soul of our family, and I feel so blessed every day to be part of it. I have spent a lot of time with my Nanny since she has been living alone, and although we have always been close, I’d say we’re closer than ever. She recently said to me how she sees the family as a circle, and in hard times we all join hands to create a ring of endless support. Only a truly beautiful person inside and out could view their family the was she views us. The way she has conducted herself since loosing the love of her life has been nothing short of inspirational. She has carried on although I know her heart is broken and will never be repaired. She recently bought herself a budgie called Bon Bon as she needed someone to look after and it has transformed her. She is a one of a kind, a true butterfly in a world of moths.

And because my Nanny is such a wonderful person, there is no doubt this has helped my mother become the grandmother she is to my daughter today. Although my mum was the greatest mother ever, she was born to be a grandmother. She has the patience of a saint! Seriously. Going through the terrible twos and threes has been a breeze because I live near my mum and on a bad/day night she takes over so I can pull myself together! I cannot tell you how thankful I am for her. The ideas she has for entertaining the kids are brilliant and she even paid to come on my first holiday abroad with Little Miss to Disneyland Paris last year just so I wouldn’t have to tackle everything alone. My mum is also in her 50s and is the ultimate “gorgeous granny” she’s currently in Greece and without a doubt she’ll be rocking that bikini! Looking young for her age runs in the family, my Nanny does, and my mum’s older sisters do. One of my Aunties is almost 60 and she doesn’t look a day over 40! I really hope I’ve inherited that gene! Like my Nanny, my mum is a gorgeous granny both inside and out. I’m blessed I had her as my mum, but I feel even more blessed that Little Miss has her for a nanny.

Speaking of GBBO it returns in two weeks! I’m so excited!
