Our Easter 2017 Plans
Today the Easter holidays start at Little Miss school! I can’t believe it’s been a whole term since LM went back after Christmas and now she only has one term left of her first year at school, that’s scary. But before I think about that, I have her at home for two whole weeks and we have so much planned! I’m sure because we do have so much planned it’s going to fly by but at least I know we’ll have lots of fun, fingers crossed we get some good weather for it. Anyway today, before I head along to LM’s end of term assembly, I thought i’d share some…

Days Out in England – KidZania, London
Since we have no big holiday booked this year I’m trying to make 2017 the year of mini adventures. So far we’ve been to Disneyland Paris and last month we went to visit my best friend Bee which included a trip to the cinema to see Beauty and the Beast. I know for a lot of people that isn’t really an adventure but our local cinema isn’t even SHOWING the movie yet so for us going to a cinema to see a newly released movie is a big adventure. This past weekend we ventured to London for the first time (the only time LM has ever been to London is…

Looking Back on March 2017
Is that March over already? I’m glad that this year is moving quickly because between our trips every day life sucks. It was my birthday this month and I turned 29, yep 29. One year off 30. I don’t think I took it well and I did a fair amount of crying. I really wanted to be okay about it but I’m not. Maybe one day I’ll get back to loving every day life like I used to but right now, I just don’t. So March, not only did I celebrated my birthday, which was nice in it’s own way and I was truly spoilt but it was Mothers Day,…

Mother’s Day 2017
Today in the UK is Mothering Sunday. It changes each year depending on when Easter falls (which I know is different to the US) sometimes it even falls on my birthday! This is my 6th Mother’s Day as a parent and my mum’s 29th as a parent (as I was born a day after Mother’s day oops). I do love being a mum and sharing the day with my own mum, it feels great to get the family together and this year we all went out for lunch before heading back to my parents. Being a single mother means I don’t get a lie in, I don’t get breakfast in…

Thirty Before Thirty
Today I turn twenty nine. I don’t feel twenty nine (most of the time anyway) and I certainly don’t look it (aside from the few crows feet) but the fact of the matter remains, next year at this time, I’ll be thirty. When I turned twenty one, the next big milestone seemed so far away but here we are, just a year away now. Some days I look at my life and feel like i’ve accomplished nothing. Single mother, rented house in the town I grew up in, no real career to speak of, no love life, no money. It feels depressing. I live miles from any of my friends.…

#IWD2017 Females are Strong as Hell
Today is International Women’s Day and with certain countries in the world going backwards a few decades and some not even progressing at all, we need this day more than ever. For a long time, when I didn’t fully understand the term feminism, I didn’t consider myself a feminist but times have changed. Back then because I supported traditional values such as being the stay at home mum, doing the cooking and cleaning while the man works but then I realised that that didn’t stop me from being a feminist. Being a feminist means having the right to choose what sort of a life I live without any discrimination. In…
