Love Your Red Hair Day*
Did you know that November 5th is not only Bonfire Night here in the UK, but it’s #LoveYourRedHair day! While I was a natural blonde as a child, I have been a red head for almost half my life and even when I have tried on the few occasions to stray away from the red, my hair stubbornly refuses to be any other colour. When I dyed it blonde, it had a gingery hue and when I tried to be brown it had red undertones, I guess the bottom line is, these days I absolutely feel like a red head, and that’s okay. In fact, I love it and couldn’t imagine not being a red head.
So #LoveYourRedHair day, where did that come from? Well National Red Head Day was contrived by redhead sisters Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti, and they are the co-founders of HowtobeaRedhead.com. The site was first launched in the US in 2012 and was created because Adrienne and Stephanie wanted to celebrate redheads in both the fashion and beauty sector. Alongside their website’s success, the sisters have come leaps and bounds from their humble redheaded beginnings, publishing the “How to be a Redhead” beauty book and curating and marketing a monthly H2BAR Beauty Box.
This year Cliphair are working with HTBAR to launch National Read Head Day here in the UK! Because did you know that 25% of the world’s red heads live in the British Isles? Given that only 2% of the world’s population has red hair, we really are out there representing! Given those statistics, it’s about time we had a special day to celebrate our red heads. Cliphair are launching a full #RedHeadsHaveMore fun campaign on their website and social media, so keep your eyes peeled for that today. Cliphair are the leading seller of red hair extensions since they first launched the range back in 2012, they have 10 stunning shades in their best selling collection alone.
Although secretly I’ve always wanted to be a much more natural red head, when I was at school being a natural red head meant you had to deal with a lot of heart ache, and for some reason this was always worse if you were a boy.. but hearing from friends with kids with red hair, it’s not so much a sticking point these days. Could it be kids have finally figured out that the colour of your hair means nothing? That would definitely be some visible progress in the world if that really is the case because to me, red hair is the best colour of hair there is. So much so I dye mine to keep it a nice vibrant, although much more natural these days, shade and I enjoy flying the flag for red hair wherever I go!
So if you have naturally red hair, or you simply are a wannabe red head, today is your day to celebrate the best and rarest colour hair there is. Red heads are beautiful and they definitely have the most fun!
