5 Reasons to Start Christmas Shopping Early*

Some people like to get organised for Christmas early, I am 100% one of these people. I don’t care how early it is guys, I’m saying the “c” word! I think a lot is to do with being a single mother and wanting to spread the cost around a bit. Another part of it is the fact I like to grab what I want while it’s out of season. During the Christmas season everything just feels more expensive and I like to get everything before that becomes an issue. A final reason is a lot of the Christmas shops in big stores open as early as August or September, and if I’m honest, that puts me in the festive mood.

So today I’m sharing a post on 5 reasons why you should get cracking with your Christmas shopping early, you’ll thank me when you avoid the rush this year.

You Spread The Cost Further
These days a lot of people get paid monthly and when you get paid monthly it means you’ll only see three pay days before Christmas from September onwards. If you have a child or two that might leave you feeling very stressed about shopping but if you start earlier, you spread the cost further. I actually know a few people who buy a few presents a month all year these days!

If you have left your Christmas shopping late this year, have no fear, Polar Credit could help you. With Polar Credit you could apply for a credit limit online and rather than a large sum of money being transferred over, you can have access to amounts as small as £25 meaning you only borrow what you need. You will only pay interest on what you use within your limit, rather than on the total amount as you would with a standard loan. Your repayments will also be tailored to your current financial circumstances so you don’t end up in a bad place with debt. Christmas can be affordable and with Polar Credit you can even rebuild your credit score if it’s used appropriately.

Start Early With the Summer Sale
My favourite reason for starting early is so I can do some shopping in the summer sales. A lot of places reduce big ticket toys before the Christmas shopping season starts so you can snap them up before the price goes up. Not only that, but you can grab some discontinued surprises. This year I got LM’s pjs, a new watch and some new trainers for a quarter of the price they are now, way back in July!

Picking up last season’s fashion for Christmas is a must do for me. If you’re religious and looking for christian t shirts and christian bags for Church over the season, a simple Google will help. I love a good christian graphic tee shirts for my brother inlaw.

Take Advantage of the Offers
A lot of the Christmas shopping offers actually start a lot earlier than you think, after all the early bird catches the worm. A lot of businesses are wise to the fact that when people leave their shopping to the last minute they’re more prepared to spend more. Because of this you’ll see 20% off, buy one get one free and 3 for 2 offers on gifts as early as the beginning of September and these usually run until cyber weekend. After that, they’re targeting those late shoppers so prices usually rise.

Catch the Argos Toy Exchange
I love the Argos toy exchange! It’s usually on once in the run up to Christmas but it’s a great way to get your kids to clear out as their used toys go to Barnardos to raise money, you get a voucher to use off your Christmas shopping and your kids have cleared space and have done something great in the eyes of Santa Claus by giving to children who don’t have very much. I happen to have a kid who loves to give to those less fortunate and this way I have a voucher to help with my Christmas shopping. Win win.

You Can Really Enjoy the Festive Season
Finally, if you get all the stressful shopping out the window early, you can really enjoy the build up to the big day. I find the shopping and deciding what to buy people hard work but once I’ve done it I can sit in front of the cheesy Netflix Christmas movies, do my wrapping while drinking a gingerbread latte. I love having presents to put under my tree once I put it up at the end of November and during the Christmas markets I don’t have to rush around trying to get something for my parents, it’s all done and I can simply enjoy.

I’ll be popping my gift guides up in a few weeks and I cannot wait to share!

Are you more of an early shopper or the week before Christmas?
