3 Gift Experiences to Surprise a Guy With*
While I definitely know I’m not the first person to say this, in fact I’ve already seen the word floating around the Internet and whispered in hushed conversation, but lets face it, we all know what the end of summer means.. time to start thinking about Christmas. Well, if you’re part of a family anyway. Yes, as usual I have already started my box, collecting little bits to give as Christmas presents to my nearest and dearest. And while this post isn’t going to be specifically Christmas, it might get those cogs going with ideas on what you can get one of those wonderful guys in your life. Because lets face it, it’s a universally known fact that men are the hardest to buy for.
– The weirdest gift I ever bought was a globe drinks cabinet for my ex. He always said he wanted one for his home office. Of course he dumped me before I ever gave it to him so I sold it on a local selling page for twice I paid for it.
ANYWAY.
I’m a huge advocate for giving experiences over material possessions, especially to adults who have money to buy themselves material possessions, but they might not think of treating themselves to something fun to do. So here are 3 gift experiences to surprise a guy (or anyone really, they’re not exactly gender specific) with;
Driving Experience
If you know someone who enjoys driving or has an interest in cars, a driving experience is probably for them. My Dad has done multiple and loves them, any excuse to pretend to be Tony Stark or James Bond. My ex did one too and I went to watch from the stands and he was in his element. They have them up and down the country so you could either book one that’s close to home or go further afield and make a whole trip of it.
A Night With the Guys
If you wanna be a tip top girlfriend (or boyfriend/partner) you plan a night out for your other half with the boys. Now I’m talking sport, good food, craic (conversation if you’re not from up north or Ireland) and drink. Most cities and town have a place that offers it all, somewhere you can enjoy live sport showings, with food and drink brought to your table while you view. Book out a booth or a table, invite the guys and surprise, you’ll be in the good books for months to come! You could even treat them all to themed t-shirts! They’re all Star Wars fans, get them a star wars tshirt. They’re having an evening gaming? Get them a gamer t shirt. You can get a geek t shirt for everything!
Brewery/Distillery Tour
Let’s face it, guys brains are weird. They take interest in weird things and the way they work, which is probably why most guys I know have always been interested in how their beer/whiskey arrived in the glass. They talk at length about hops and casks and I usually sit there totally blank. If this is someone you know (not the one looking blank, that’s me) a tour of a whiskey distillery or a brewery could be the perfect experience to surprise them with.
No matter what your budget, you can always find some experience your guy would enjoy, even if it’s sucking up going to the cinema to see a movie he wants over you. I think we all need to experience life again after spending the best part of 18 months doing absolutely nothing!
