Teen Fashion Trends for 2023*

Buying clothes for your teenage daughter can be a minefield. Lets face it, it’s been a while since you were in a y2k shop. You risk buying something they won’t wear because it isn’t ‘cool’ enough or they might want something that you consider a little too adult, resulting in the inevitable sulking because it’s ‘so unfair’. By taking an interest in what’s new in the world of teen fashion however, you can keep up to date with the looks that are in right now and assure her that her look is bang on trend by looking at y2k fashion online. But in case you don’t have time, some great looks for your teen to go for this year are:

Surf Chic

Catwalks were bursting with neon sandals, palm tree prints, Bermuda shorts and wetsuit look clothing this year. Harness the power of the waves by choosing faded jeans with a patterned T shirt and brightly coloured shoes or a brightly coloured tunic vest with plain leggings to make the look more wearable.

Spikes

You can’t go wrong with the spiky accessories seen on the catwalk this year. Add an edge to an outfit with a spiked belt or a few spiked bracelets, turning it from girly to trendy in an instant. Perfect if you’ve got a mini rock chick on your hands!

Backpacks

The previously uncool backpack is around to stay. Expect to see cute patterned varieties covered in the ever fashionable patterns, retro styles and plain ones that can easily be customised with a bag charm and a few badges. They’re great as school bags and make a good all round bag for teens, giving them plenty of space to keep their things in while being fashionable at the same time.

Bright Prints

Girl’s dresses are a great way to incorporate this look in your teens wardrobe as they can be dressed up or down, accessorised with belts, bags and jewellery to take them from day to night, or worn with a comfy pair of platform trainers for a more relaxed look. George girls dresses are not only stylish but great value too, offering your daughter a huge range to choose from to get her look just right.

Other looks to include in her wardrobe this year are the ever fashionable slogan and selfie T shirts from a y2k store like cherrykitten, patterned canvas sneaker style shoes, varsity jackets, safari prints (it looks like elephants and giraffes printed on clothing will be very popular this year!) and lace. The great thing about fashion is it allows your teen to express herself, working out her own sense of style as she goes. Of course she’ll make some mistakes along the way, but our old photos only remind us that we did too!
