Magical Mother/Daughter Weekend Breaks*

Whether it’s a Mother’s day or birthday gift, treating your mum to a bit of mother/daughter time on a long weekend break is a magical gift. Or perhaps, it’s the other way round, and you can persuade mum to take you! With everything from sightseeing to shopping and spas to pampering, let’s take a look at some of the best mother/daughter breaks for a wonderful treat.

Wine Tour in Germany

A wine tour, in Germany you say? Surely you mean the south of France? No I do not! With it’s moderate climate in the Palatinate region you can find almonds, fig kiwis and even lemons to grow, making it the perfect place for a wine country. The Deutsche Weinstrasse touring route takes you through beautiful vine covered hillsides, castle ruins, little hamlets and of course some wonderful wine estates where you can taste and sample some of Germany’s best wine exports. The area also boasts great hiking and cycling routes which is perfect if you and your mother are the outdoorsy types. Using a great site like Ebooking you can plan your stays along the route and do some great mother/daughter bonding over a few glasses of exquisite wine!

Venice Sightseeing

Venice is like a magical work of art. And if you have never been it makes for a wonderful mother/daughter long weekend. Venice is enchanting, bewitching and beautiful. It has everything from 18th-century architecture to Gothic masterpieces. And pretty palazzos to gondola rides. It’s best to avoid in the height of summer as it gets very busy with tourists. But late spring or autumn are the perfect time to take a trip. As this magical city is built on the water, you definitely won’t want to miss out on a gondola ride with your mum. You can even be serenaded! You’ll also want to stroll through St Mark’s Square, see the Teatro la Fenice opera house and Scala del Bovolo’s unique multi-arched staircase. There are plenty of charming piazzas and narrow alleyways to stroll around, and you’ll come upon so many different wonders. Its canals and palaces are spellbinding, and you and your Mum will truly be living la dolce vita. Of course, no Italy holiday is complete without copious amounts of gelato and pizza too!

Paris Shopping

A mother/daughter shopping weekend in Paris you say? Oh, go on then! As you know, I have a love affair with Disneyland Paris, but I’m rather partial to shopping too! This little trip makes a great surprise for mother’s day. Fly or hop over on the Eurostar for a really simple and quick journey. Paris is perfect for amazing sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Louvre Museum. But it’s also an amazing destination for a shopping spree. You’ll want to spend an afternoon wandering along the iconic Champs-Elysees. Here is where you’ll find myriad designer boutiques and jewellery stores. The famous avenue stretches over a mile long and is the perfect way to spend a mother/daughter day. You’ll also find lots of gourmet food stores and beauty shops where you can pick up some Parisian tips! It’s also worth trying the Golden Triangle of George-V and Montaigne Avenue. This is where you’ll find luxury stores including Dior and Balenciaga. Top your day off with a night at the magical Moulin Rouge. Or perhaps a spectacular dinner at the luxurious Michelin-starred Le Jules Verne located on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower.

Switzerland Andermatt Spa

Mother/daughter breaks were made for pampering spa trips. Go on a magical Swiss Alpine weekend break to The Chedi Andermatt and prepare for a weekend of pure relaxation. You will both be buffed and soothed to perfection in 5-star luxury at this beautiful spa and wellness retreat. There are Finnish saunas, steam baths, Yoga, personal training and a stunning swimming pool. The hotel offers three and four-day spa rituals which include massages, steam baths, manicures and pedicures. This is the ultimate girlie break!
