Nereus Shampoo and Conditioner Review*

Gifted set in return for honest review with Nereus.

I have a confession to make. I have only been to the hair dresser three times in my whole life. First to have it set for prom when I was sixteen. Second was when my sister tried to strip the red out my hair and it went orange so it needed fixed, and third was to have that mess fixed a second time. And that is it. When I dye my hair, I use box dye (although they just discontinued my favourite colour, tragic) and I usually use whatever shampoo and conditioner is on offer these days, especially during lockdown when I had to order it with my weekly shop. However recently, it never felt like I was doing my hair any favours. While it’s finally started to grow after years of seeming to be dead post-bleaching, it never feels “clean” which is frustrating. And while I do think that’s to do with the fact I have PCOS and it seems to make my hair and skin greasier than I’d like, I think I’m just struggling to find shampoo and conditioner that works. Until now.. enter Nereus.

Nereus London Australian Buddah Wood Essential Care Set* RRP £45 (currently on offer for £35)

Last month, I was sent a set with a shampoo and conditioner in by Nereus London for review purposes and it’s safe to say, I’m in love. The box contained a bottle of Nereus London Australian Buddah Wood Essential Care shampoo and conditioner which is recommended for all hair types.

The first thing you need to about this specific shampoo and conditioner is that it’s completely plastic free. So plastic free, they’ve won awards. The bottle the lid, the labels, the lot. So if you’re trying to reduce your carbon footprint, this is a great way to do it. You just need to glance into your bathroom to see all the plastic, but by switching to Nereus London, especially if you like the salon shower experience, you’re well on your way to making those small differences that will hopefully add up to a big difference. The bottles themselves look sleek, and while the set comes with warnings (both on the bottle and on a card) saying there is a chance the labels and lid will start to break down, it’s been a good few weeks and I haven’t noticed any of that yet, but it’s great that you’re made aware this could happen.

Not only that, but the shampoo and conditioner themselves are free from silicones, parabens, sulfates, animal-derived ingredients, or harsh chemicals. Yep, they’re vegan. As i’ve mentioned before, we’re trying to cut down on anything that uses animal products due to my daughter wanting to save “all the animals” so it felt good to be able to show her this.

The products themselves smell amazing. As i’ve mentioned before while doing reviews this is a big thing for me. I need something to smell good before I put it on my hair or skin and I have to admit when I saw Buddah Wood I was a little apprehensive but I didn’t need to be, they smell good and the smell lingers on my hair and smells high end. Although I never splash out on a salon visit, I like my hair to smell good and these both pass the test. The shampoo is quite runny which is probably my only complaint and I seem to have used a lot more than the conditioner, but this is more my carelessness as I get carried away singing in the shower!

As for my hair, the shine is fantastic and it feels like it keeps that post-dye feel for longer than when I use some cheap off the shelf brand. You know that shine and sleek feel that your hair has the week after it’s first dyed. I definitely feel like my hair is in better condition too which I’m happy about.

When it comes to price, for something high end and eco friendly, I think they’re good value for money, maybe airing on the more expensive side if you don’t regularly splash out on hair care, but I have been that person in the past and you do very much get what you pay for and you get free shipping on orders over £30.
