3 Social Distance Date Ideas To Try This Summer*

It’s July, and yes, we’re still in the midst of a pandemic, lucky us! But as everyone keeps telling me, can’t put our lives on hold forever.. and while I’m okay with that sentiment I wish everyone wanted to do this and keep safe! Unfortunately many people think these two things are mutually exclusive, but you can keep safe and attemp to get your life back in some way, and that includes dating.

Lockdown has been tough on us single people. For long time we couldn’t see anyone, not even our friends and family, that type of isolation can affect mental health, but it can also give you the time to look over your life and decide what you really want. I spent this time making a 5 year plan, and that included hopefully meeting someone. And yes, right now, I’m apprehensive to meet new people. You can’t trace where they’ve been and if they’ve stayed safe, but hopefully through time this will get better.

A great start if you want to get back into the dating game is to sign up to a local dating site, for example, if you’re in Milton Keynes you need a Buckinghamshire dating site. This way you don’t have to travel far if you should wish to have a physical date.

Now that I’ve mentioned physical (or in person) dates, here are three great social distance dates you can try this summer;

Park Picnic

The government is out there pushing staycations. They want us to enjoy the beauty that our country has to offer, so why not enjoy it on a date. You don’t need to leave you town, especially if you have signed up to datebuckinghamsingles.co.uk because there are so many beautiful parks and green areas. Get out there and enjoy. Make it more fun by both agreeing to bring your favourite foods to share. You can sit and talk, and more importantly see each other in person while enjoying the great outdoors.

Experience an Outdoor Attraction

Like with the idea that going on a staycation is to help boost the economy, we should be trying to support outdoor attractions now it’s safe to visit them. Yes, for the most part it will be super weird to go on a date in a face mask, but we should have all accepted that this is part of every day life now. So don’t be shy, invite your date somewhere fun like the zoo, a theme park or even one of our wonderful National Parks. Remember most places require a reservation at the moment.

Grab a Coffee and Go For A Walk

Over the last few months we’ve been constantly reminded that the safest place to spend time with someone is outdoors. So now that the coffee shops are open, meet for a coffee but take it to go and simply walk. I always find that conversation flows better if you’re on the move, especially when you’re just getting to know someone. You can also keep your distance or even wear a face covering if it would make you more comfortable and since you aren’t staring face to face it probably won’t feel as awkward!

However you decide to proceed with dating during COVID-19, be sure you do it safely!
