Making Cooking Easy and Tasty with Schwartz Chip Seasoning*

Please tell me i’m not the only person who struggles to think of something to make for tea every single day of the week? It’s exhausting, right? Especially when you have kids who get bored easily and then you have to try and get imaginative. There are only so many dishes on Pinterest that don’t need 60 million ingredients and cost a fortune with fancy things from specialist stores and yet you’re still expected to keep it interesting and tasty for you little darlings. It’s definitely one of the my least favourite parts of adulting!

But last year we discovered Schwartz Chip Seasoning. My mum actually got in a Slimming World hamper she won at a coffee morning and it soon became our go to seasonings.. not just for chips, but for everything that could possibly need a little kick. Not only that, but it was mild enough that both LM and my nephew would eat what we cooked! I think my mum and I have raved about it to everyone in our family, and now it’s time for me to share some of my favourite ways to use it with you all! It’s available now at Tesco.

Potatoes
Obviously, lets start with what it’s sold for, chips. We actually use it on frozen oven chips the most. Simply sprinkle on before cooking and they have a lovely flavour when they’re done. It’s also really nice on crispy roast potatoes, home made wedges (before this seasoning LM hated my mum’s wedges, it was a game changer) and even stirred into mash potato (don’t knock it ’til you try it!). Then this week we tried it on sweet potato chips, and yep, it’s a game changer!

Salmon Fillets
My first experiment with the season was on salmon fillets. The first time I brushed them with olive oil then sprinkled the paprika and onion seasoning on and they tasted good. The next time I mixed the seasoning with cream cheese and spread it on before topping with breadcrumbs. Surprisingly it was a perfect compliment to the cream cheese and it was nice to move away from my usual lemon and black pepper topping.

Paella
I really like experimenting when it comes to enhancing my rice dishes. I make my own sauce and I’m always throwing in some kind of herbs or spices. I meant to add in regular paprika and ended up reaching for this bottle instead and dumped some in before I realised. It gave it a really warming taste and really enhanced the chicken and chorizo!

Home Made Nuggets
I often make my own homemade chicken nuggets as LM really likes them and I find them much healthier than the store bought ones. I also often throw some kind of flavouring in with the bread crumbs as an easy way to expose M to different tastes. The Schwartz chip seasoning is fantastic for that. You can either mix it in with the breadcrumbs or cover your chicken in it first before adding the egg and bread crumbs, either way it tastes delicious.

Veggies
Finally, this seasoning is the perfect way to make veggies taste good. I recommend sprinkling it over a mix of red onion, peppers, cherry tomatoes and courgette then roasting them in the over. This goes perfectly with chicken.

This small herbs and spice mix really packs a punch and it’s so versatile, definitely something to keep in your cupboard to make tea much more interesting!
