Easter Party 2018*

Wow, can you believe Easter is over already? I know it was super early this year but it’s still a big mile stone point to pass. It’s also apparently Spring but I’m not sure where that’s at given we had snow the other day and today is thick mist and rain. Thankfully Easter Sunday was a beautiful spring like day and we managed to have our annual Easter party.

Our family are notorious for throwing parties, Halloween parties, birthday parties and our Easter party, which is my personal favourite as we get to eat brunch and the sun is usually shining. It was my mum’s turn to organise it so it wasn’t as structured as I usually like but it was such fun none the less!

As there are only a six of us we just throw our party at home, but if you’re looking to throw a big party definitely check out Captain Fantastic, an awesome company that can help you throw a party for children aged 1-11! There is everything you need to throw the greatest party.

Our more modest party took place at my parents on Sunday afternoon. My mum had gone all out with decorations, the Easter Bunny had left a couple of baskets and there was a delicious brunch style spread, perfection.

On arrival the kids received their Easter presents. My parents got them Lego and an Easter egg, I got them an Easter egg and the Easter bunny left them a basket of Pokemon goodies including a game each, a book, some cards and a DVD each. Pokemon always goes down well and it’s something both the kids like. We nearly had an Easter Bunny disaster when my mum told the kids the Easter Bunny brought everything but no one was buying that haha.

Thankfully with the distraction of games out in the garden as the sun had made a rare appearance the who brought what thing was forgotten (it’s getting so hard with Santa/Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy as the kids are just way too smart). First up, the egg hunt. My mum had hid 9 eggs each in the garden for the kids to find. My mum has a tiny garden so it didn’t take long but it was fun given the kids are very competitive. We followed this up with an egg and spoon race that the adults could get involved in. My mum and sister are hilarious as they’re so competitive, especially after last year where my sister cheated her way to win, my mum was having none of that this year an played dirty. Finally the kids rolled the pacey eggs as we knew it was a snowy forecast for Monday when we usually go egg rolling.

After we’d finished all the games we went indoors for a well earned feast. Yes, it was brunch food but trying to get my parents to agree to a party at 11am was nigh on impossible, so we had it at the back of 1. My dad and I had visited Marks and Spencers Food Hall on the Saturday and picked up some cheese, meats, pastries and breads. We also drank my last bottle of prosecco that I got for my birthday with orange juice. My mum had the table looking adorable and even had an Easter mask each which we had to wear. The chick ones were terrifying but hilarious, especially on my parents!

We spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies and eating chocolate, the way Easter Sunday should be spent if you’re not of the religious persuasion.

How did you spend your Easter?
