4 Ways to Get Money, Fast*
When I was a kid I never thought for a second that by nearly 30 I’d still be budgeting my money. In fact I think I budget more than ever. I like to take LM on adventures rather than buy material possessions and for that I have to live to a financial line every month. I need to earn enough to pay all my bills and put away enough to afford our adventures. Some months I do it, some months something happens and I’m frantically trying to make some more money in that last week of the month. Being self employed is hard, and it requires a lot of strength, determination and hard work to survive it and even if you do most months, every now and then something happens and you need to find some more money, fast. The car could give up, or you may need a new washer, or the school might suddenly decide your child needs two costumes, a set of wellies and money for a school trip in the space of a week (it has happened!) What are you going to do?
Well here are 5 ways to get money and fast if you find yourself in a bind!
Swallow Your Pride and Talk to Your Parents
I am so thankful to have parents that understand how much my generation is struggling. My parents can’t help me buy a house but they have paid off theirs and are financially comfortable. If it’s not a huge sum I know I can swallow my pride and go to help for them, especially if it’s something to do with LM. I hate doing it but we have had a talk with my parents about it being better to ask for help rather than getting into a financial mess trying to make ends meet and for that I’m very blessed.
Sell Stuff
I am not a materialistic person, yet every time I’m tight on money I somehow find stuff to sell. eBay can take a while but I’ve found Facebook groups are a great way to make some quick cash, especially if you use the marketplace option to sell them locally as you can deliver or have the item collected and receive cash in hand. It’s probably my favourite way to sell these days as you don’t have the hidden expenses of ebay and other selling websites.
Ask for Extra Hours at Work
If you have a job that is flexible enough to allow for extra hours, go for it. Of all the quick ways to earn some money this is the best and even though i’m self employed when I need extra money my go to is always to try and take on some extra work, even if it leaves me exhausted. It’s of course also the most obvious way to make some extra money.
Take Our a Short Term Loan
I know, a loan sounds scary, but sometimes you really don’t have any other choice. Payday loans can be a good short term option especially if you know your need for a little extra isn’t a monthly thing. In the long term you have options such as getting a second job or cutting back on groceries but sometimes you need money for something that can’t wait. It doesn’t need to be scary and it could help you out of a tight spot.
People always say “money can’t buy you happiness” but over the last 12 years an official adult I’ve learned it might not buy you happiness but when you have enough it certainly buys you sanity!
