Summer 2017 in Squares

Summer officially ended for us on Wednesday when LM went back to school. I’m fairly sure actual summer ended weeks ago since the weather has been rubbish since the start of July. Typical isn’t it?

As a summer round up I’m going to share some of my favourite Instagram photos from Little Miss’ summer holidays as well as a round up with what we got up to. I can’t believe 6 weeks are over already! I don’t know abou other parents but it definitely went way too fast for me!

Distant Adventures
At the very start of the summer holidays we headed off to visit Bee and her family. We didn’t do much but spending time together was really important to me. LM loved seeing Bee’s daughters and I loved having a catch up. I also kept Bee company while she worked on Closet Geek. I really wanted to get back during the summer but time (and money) just got away from us.

At the very end of the summer LM and I headed off to London for a day of exploring with the Big 6 Ticket from Attraction Tix. I also took over their Instagram fo the day which was a lot of fun. We did Madame Tussauds, The London Eye and The London Eye Cruise as well as exploring South Bank which is lovely in the summer.

After our day in London we spent four nights in Disneyland Paris. It was our longest trip to Disneyland Paris since October 2015 and despite the crowds and the heat we made the most of it. I posted a Trip Report to Livvy Bird Adventures on Tuesday with loads more details of what we got up to while there.

Days Away
While my dad was on holiday in the middle of the summer we had a day away to Edinburgh with the family. The kids really wanted to go on a double decker bus (we don’t have them in our town) so we booked to do the open top bus tour but unfortunately it rained meaning it wasn’t much fun for anyone. We did however have a delicious meal at the Hard Rock Cafe which made it all worth while.

My parents went away for a week leaving my sister and I to fend for ourselves so on one of the hottest days of the summer we went away to East Links Family Park for the day. It was absolutely amazing. LM loved seeing all the animals, we played mini golf, went on rides, played on trampolines, it was fantastic and definitely one of the highlights of the summer.

Local Fun
Our town had a lot on over the summer from a Food Festival, to a Seaside Festival, a Lifeboat Fete, a rowing regata and a Family Fun Day. We also went to a special furry pet care session at the local Pets at Home, visited a museum and went to see Cars 3 at the cinema.

As well as all these activities we also managed two days on the beach, a barbeque, games of mini golf, out on their bikes, many many trips to parks all over the town. Dinner at Morrisons twice as it was kids eat free, Mcdonalds, a visit to the chocolate parlor and trips to the garden centre.

At Home
Finally, we couldn’t go out every day as the weather was terrible a lot of the time. One week LM had Lego out on the sitting room for a solid week. We’ve also had her Disney dolls out, done a lot of crafting from decorating plant pots to sticking a gluing. She’s dressed up and watched pretty much the whole Disney/Pixar back catelogue even movies she’s never seen before! We caught up on Pokemon Sun & Moon, My Little Pony and Miraculous and Mummy has binge watched all of Game of Thrones including the new season! We fully made the most of the bad weather.

So although I feel like the summer has flown in, reading this back we have done so much with those 6 weeks! No wonder I’m exhausted now even though she’s gone back to school!

What did you get up to this summer?
