The Only Three Styles of Footwear You’ll Need This Autumn
When autumn rolls around it’s time to start putting away those summer outfits and looking at bringing back the layers. This time of the year is my favourite, with cute cardigans, light jackets and of course some fashionable footwear. But you don’t need a whole wardrobe full of shoes for the upcoming season, in fact you can make it to winter with just three pairs of versatile footwear. If you’re looking to minimise your closet this autumn, then have a look at why these three pairs of shoes are all you’ll need.
Trainers
The classic trainer is the ultimate in casual, everyday wear. Women’s trainers are making a big comeback on the fashion scene and today can be paired with pretty much any outfit. In fact, they’ve been spotted on the catwalk and the high street matched with everything from athletic wear, casual dresses and even business attire.
The most popular way to wear trainers in autumn is with a good fitting pair of jeans and a relaxed t-shirt.
Brogues
Brogues started off as a menswear item, usually paired with an immaculate suit and a brief case – but not any more. These shoes have branched out over the last decade and now can be found in almost every women’s clothing store, with the potential to be dressed up or down as you please. Whether you’re working in an office or getting ready for a night out on the town, these shoes will be your best friend during the autumn months.
You might also be surprised to know that they come in a whole array of styles and colours, so you can mix and match your outfits depending on which pair you go for. Of course the classic brown or black brogue is within the neutral colour wheel and will go great with any shade of top or vibrant coloured trouser.
Ankle boots
Nothing says autumn more than the classic ankle boot. The style was just made for this time of year, when the weather is starting to change and you need a little extra cloth to keep those feet warm. Ankle boots are also extremely on-trend and can complete just about any ensemble with ease.
Ankle boots are a bit of an eye catcher, so it’s best to give them their moment. By wearing skinny jeans or tights the boots can fit over top and be shown off in their true glory. If you’re looking for a versatile shoe that can also be worn into winter, the ankle boot is your best bet. For a little inspiration on how to style yours, Harper’s Bazaar gives us a quick how-to.
