L’Oreal Color Riche Beauty and the Beast Lipstick in Belle Review
February was a pretty bad month for me, I was ill and I was struggling mental health wise. Like most girls, my go to to help me feel better is the 21st century mantra of “treat yo self!” I decided to take the plunge and order one of the limited edition Beauty and the Beast lipsticks by L’Oreal. As the range is only available in Italy it required making an order on Amazon.it (the Italian Amazon website) and although it felt so daunting at first it was much easier than I imagined. Once I’d downloaded Chrome with it’s built in translator (this probably won’t end well as I can now translate the Japan Disney Store’s website.. oops!) I could understand everything on the website and it made or simple ordering.
The lipstick took a little over a week to arrive from Italy, and despite seeing some bad reviews on a few of the other lipsticks in the collection, I have to admit, I do really like everything from the packaging to the colour.
The collection is made up of seven lipsticks with matching/contrasting nail polishes. Having looked at the colours and what was available at the time I decided that I was most likely to wear the Belle lipstick (the others available were Beast, Mrs Potts & Plumette) so I placed my order. I originally intended on getting the matching nail polish but for the price I just knew I couldn’t justify it. Including postage I paid 15.34e which is just over £13 and less than I’d pay for a MAC or Urban Decay lipstick.
I personally think the packaging is just the right amount of Disney without being too tacky like a lot of Disney make up you can buy. This lipstick comes in a red velvet tube with gold Belle silhouettes. I love having it displayed on my dressing table and although I know the only other colour I would realistically wear would be the rose one, I do want the whole set. Unfortunately the lipstick didn’t come with anything to assure me that it hasn’t been touched before shipping. There was no sticker or seal on it. Thankfully once I opened the tube it was clear it was untouched.
As the lipstick is by L’Oreal, it means you’re getting a real make up brand, and one I do often buy from. I think this was one of the main reasons I took the plunge to order this. The lipstick is from the Color Riche range and the shade is 377. In the past I have purchased a few different shades in the Color Riche formula and I do like it. It’s creamy, moisturising and long lasting, and i’m happy to say that Belle lives up to this. The lipstick goes on smoothly even over my currently chapped lips, it’s well pigmented and I don’t have to apply it every 5 minutes. I do feel it benefits from a layer of lipcote as it often transfers to anything I drink out of without.
On the whole, I’m pleased with my purchase. It’s a little more than I’d usually pay for a lipstick these days (although a lot less than I’ve paid in the past before I was a parent). I just can’t say no to anything Disney!
