10 Things That Were Awesome at Walt Disney World March 2016
We’re nearly half way through the time between our two trips to Walt Disney World of 2016. A lot of people say “already?” but to Little Miss and I it feels like a lifetime. To a lot of people it’s just another holiday, but to Little Miss and I, it’s where a lot of our friends are. Where we’re at our happiness. I rarely see the smile that dominates LMs face in the States while we’re sat indoors in the UK because it’s constantly pouring with rain outside. We miss it.
Because we’re nearly half way through, I felt it was time to have a real reminiscing session about the 10 of the amazing things that happened in Walt Disney World. To be honest, every single day we were there were awesome, so many magical things happened that I’d probably need to do a list of 100! But since I want to include photos I’ve narrowed it down to my 10 favourites, in no particular order;
Teacups with Alice
On our very first morning we went to Magic Kingdom for Welcome Show then waited to meet Alice and the Hatter for their first set. Not only did Little Miss and Alice have a very emotional reunion but she was in for a very special treat, a spin on the teacups with them! It was an amazing way to kick off our trip, very emotional and very magical for Little Miss. We were back where we belonged and boy, did we know it!
Fantasyland Adventures with Peter Pan
So you all know how Little Miss loves Peter Pan by now? She thinks he’s her boyfriend and she likes to spend her days at Magic Kingdom dressed at Wendy Darling, like I literally have to carry a Wendy dress with me every single day we are there. As we were there for four weeks in March she was able to go adventuring around Fantasyland with Peter on three separate occasions! Of course that meant games of “don’t step on the cracks”, hunting for pirates and general secret pow-wows. I know these are some of her absolute favourite memories.
Dancing with Judy Hopps in Move It Shake It
If you’ve been to Walt Disney World since Zootopia came out, you’ll know at the moment you cannot meet Judy and Nick but they are part of the Move It, Shake It parade. HOWEVER, unlike some of the other characters you cannot dance with them or even touch them. Little Miss got so lucky and got to dance with Judy Hopps! She couldn’t hold her hands like she has with some other characters, but Judy blew her a kiss and they danced. It was special and Little Miss loved it, in fact it made her Easter.
Making the Giraffe Noise in Festival of the Lion King
A must do for Animal Kingdom is totally The Festival of the Lion King, it is amazing! Well this time when we went Little Miss was chosen from the audience to demonstrate a giraffe noise! She looked so tiny! They rarely choose kids as young as her as they get stage fright but she got up there and did so well. It was such a proud moment for me. Later she again got up to join in the procession and managed to steal a Timon hug, completely adorable.
Little Miss Loving the Seven Dwarves Mine Train
I look terrible as I hate rollercoasters but Little Miss loves them! In fact Mine Train is her absolute favourite. We managed to scrape on it three times. The first was through a FP, the second one was a gift from the Captain in Princess Fairytale Hall as Little Miss spent so long telling Rapunzel all about the ride. The third time she walked up to the lady at the FP Kiosk and said she only wanted to ride the Mine Train, it definitely helps being a cute kid because she managed to get a FP! She puts her hands in the air the whole way around and screams. It’s so funny and cute, even if I’m holding onto her for dear life!
Surprising Wendy & Little Miss
As a birthday gift to me, my friend Justin arranged a special meet & greet with the cast of Dream Along with Mickey. Although I knew, we didn’t tell Little Miss, and we didn’t tell Wendy. It was an amazing surprise for both of them as we had Little Miss come into the room with her eyes shut. Once she realised what was happening she ran straight at Wendy. It was so special and magical for everyone involved.
Princess Hugs
Another magical moment arranged by friends, that is now even more special since Rapunzel and Cinderella no longer share a room in Princess Fairytale Hall was a big hug from both of them on one of our last days. Little Miss loves her time in Princess Fairytale Hall and she visited a lot over our four weeks, but this was probably one of her favourite visits.
Little Miss Decorating the Tree in the Christmas Shop
I didn’t even know this was a thing! One morning when it was really hot and it was a good 20 minutes before Tiana would be in the Glade we popped into the Christmas Shop to keep cool and Little Miss was invited to decorate the Christmas tree in the store. At the end she was gifted with a certificate and special bauble to remember it. Not only that but her name was on the plaque all day. She made us go see it three times as she was so proud of herself!
Meeting Minnie Mouse
I’m not going to go into why this meet was so special, but it was. I sobbed as Little Miss met Minnie dressed as Minnie. They twirled, they danced and Minnie hugged her so tightly. It was one of those moments that reminded me why our trips to Walt Disney World are the best part of our life. That I have given Little Miss so much magic. That she is loved.
Watching the last ever Dream Along with Mickey
The last day of our trip was also the last ever performance of Dream Along with Mickey, a show had meant so much to us on all our three trips. A show that had helped us make so many friends. One of the ways Little Miss could get her Peter Pan & Wendy Darling fix. It rained, it rained all last day until the last performance of the day, when the skies cleared and in front of possibly one of the biggest audiences the castle stage has ever seen, the story and songs of Dream Along with Mickey played out through Magic Kingdom for the very last time. I can say I was there with Little Miss in the very front row surrounded by so many of my friends. It was very very emotional. It was a truly magical time, everyone coming together to celebrate a truly wonderful show, something that was Disney through and through. I’m so glad I visited Walt Disney World during the era of Dream Along. Both photos were taken by my friend Emily as I had both Little Miss and my friend’s daughter with me and couldn’t get my camera out. But I lived it, I’ll never forget.
