Watch What You Put in their Cot
When you put your baby down to sleep, make sure you haven’t put anything dangerous in their cot. There should be absolutely nothing in here that could get wrapped around your baby’s neck or hurt your baby in anyway. This means no cords, ribbons, or anything they could strangle themselves with. You should also be careful of large stuffed animals that could fall and obstruct their airways. Be careful that your baby is just the right temperature too. There’s a lot to think about if you want your baby to have a good sleep!

Invest in Good Baby Monitors
Good baby monitors will help you to keep a close ear on your baby when you can’t be in the room with them. You need to know when to leave your baby alone and when not to leave them alone; leaving them in their cot for a little while can be OK, but leaving them in the bath or changing matt is not. Very dangerous things can happen that can easily be prevented. When you do need to leave them for a little bit, a baby monitor will help put your mind at ease.

Install Smoke Alarms
Install smoke alarms in the house and test them regularly to make sure the entire family is protected should anything happen. You may also want to install alarms that can detect gas.

Protect Their Skin
Baby’s skin is way more sensitive than ours, so make sure you protect it. Apply an SPF regularly, and put your baby in clothes that protect from the sun and chill. You may also want to put them in clothes that help to protect them from themselves, such as baby scratch mittens. Skin conditions can be common in babies, so keep them comfortable with the help of mittens.

Child Proof Your Home
Begin childproofing your home as soon as you bring them back. Add covers to corners to stop them from being as sharp, and hide wires and other things they can get their hands on. Make sure you have done a full health and safety check and that you continue to do so regularly!

These really simple tips will help you to keep your baby as safe as possible. There’s so much more advice out there, so all you have to do is go and search for it if you need it.
